三百年前，太溪府君澄明宮於嶙東洲的太溪建成，然而百年後天帝有旨，天行大水，嶙東太溪洪雨氾濫，居民流離失所。
人間命數不得插手，太溪府君不忍見信眾受苦，竟違抗聖旨，顯靈護佑全庄，最終遭天雷轟頂，受靈魂燃燒之刑，並在革去太溪府君一職後，貶回人間重新來過。
「心魔乃執念，有情眾生皆有執念，為己心所囚。
執念困在心裡一久，便成心魔。」
何清文是雲峰府城的大商少爺，不愛讀書只愛插科打諢愛玩水，某日罰跪時穿越一幅奇畫來到太溪澄明宮，遇上了命中註定的際遇。
待他回到雲峰老家後卻逐漸發現家族不堪回首的過往，以及雲峰府城裡上一輩撲朔離迷的恩怨情仇。
從父輩到這一輩的他們，人人都在為自己找一條出路，誰都在尋找自己生來的使命與最後的歸處。
《河司傳》，是眾人的故事，也是眾神的故事。看不愛讀書成天混水摸魚的大商子弟何清文，如何在人間熙攘中找回自己。
