那是一個戰亂的時代——

距今幾百年前，魔獸猖獗，大肆破壞著人們的生活。他們燒殺擄掠，彷彿只為了毀滅而生。

魔物全都聽命於厄列帛，他是他們的領袖，人們口中的大魔王。
厄列帛的意思是「黑暗」，他盤踞在大陸最北端的一座高山上。

山頂終年結冰，寒冷刺骨。
那裡淵面黑暗，死氣沉沉。

只有最黑暗的事物能在那裡停留。

歷年來，千千萬萬條生命，喪失在出征的路上。
又有上百條生命，在高山的小徑上死去。
     
僅有寥寥數十人，能親眼見到罪惡的元首。

但他們沒有一個人，能活著回來——
　　
勇者，便是誕生在這樣的時刻。
　　
七名勇者，七天連續的廝殺，在耗盡全身的靈氣之前，將厄列帛封印在古老的山頂上。
平地上的魔物們，因為缺乏暗能量的供應，一個接著一個死去，世界終於恢復了平靜祥和。

勇者們在入山唯一的門戶建立村莊，將自己剩餘的靈氣，全部封印在村莊裡，犧牲了自己的自由，終其一生看守世界的黑暗，守護世界的光明。
