有趣的冷知識：

哥法地鼠龜（Gopher Tortoise）是北美的「生態建築師」，因像地鼠般精於挖掘而得名。

牠們利用強壯如鏟的前肢，能挖出深達 15 公尺的地底洞穴。挖洞主因是為了調節體溫、躲避森林野火及防禦天敵。由於洞穴深邃且恆溫，成為了蛇、青蛙與兔子等不擅挖洞生物的「五星級飯店」。據統計，這些洞穴庇護了超過 350 種生物，使牠們成為維繫生態多樣性的關鍵物種。
