I raced into Eddie's room looking for her. I was desperate for the one girl who had ever listened for me, the girl that never gave up on me, the girl that was my only friend in my chaos that I liked to call my life. 

The only sign of her was a ripped straitjacket, that lay on the floor peculiarly, as if someone had cut a line through the middle of it. 

ARGH!

I ran out hastily, not even bothering to look around the room. If she was in there, she would have come out as soon as she saw me. Eddie was gone.

Eddie was gone. The words stung my thoughts as I let the words roll around in my head. I had to get to one of the nurses, to tell them to lock me in a room that I could never get out of so that I wouldn't tear the world down looking for Eddie. 

Then I remembered. 

If I wanted to run, I should go now, while the guards couldn't catch me. I could walk out, and leave all of the craziness, all of the insanity behind. All I would have to do is gather the courage to go through the front door. Everyone else was pre-occupied with the attack. 

But, if Eddie was still here.....

No. I had to run and save myself. Before this nut house killed me. I wasn't going to die as insane, I was going to die with Eddie, out there in the wild, craz- sane world. In the wild and sane world. I wasn't going to die today, that was for sure. 

So that's exactly what I did: I ran far, far, away.

"Yes, could you please dye my hair purple?" I asked the hairdresser. 

What? I wasn't going to go out in the open looking exactly what I looked like inside the insane-party house. I was going to change my hair, get some makeup, and buy clothes. 

Oh and color contacts, I can't forget those. 

"Sure, honey. Just sit here." The hairdresser's voice brushed over me like a flower floating through the wind. 

The hairdresser took a long time to dye my hair. But it was worth it in the end. I sat, staring at her as she did my hair. I'm sure I creeped her out a little bit, but I wasn't going to just sleep or something. 

My hair, now a deep vibrant purple, glowed and shook as I walked. I looked utterly un-recognizable.

Perfect. 

..

I sighed as I walked down the street in my new clothes. A new pair of jeans, a nice red top, my hair up in a ponytail. 

Where did the money come from? Well, I've gotten very good at pickpocketing the nurses. 

 I rounded the corner and saw my parents big red house. It stood, in all of its glory, as if it had been waiting for me and it had been worried that I was never coming home. 

Don't worry, house. You aren't the only one that thought that. 

 I didn't have time to register anything when the large hand clamped around my mouth and a gruff voice in my ear spoke the words: "Don't fight."  I stood, as he did this, wondering why no one on the street was seeing this. 

Honestly, was everyone away from town?

I was inches away from my house. When I was dragged back down that day. 

He took off my prosthetic leg and threw me into a van. Yep, threw. I'm not even exaggerating, I was tossed into the van as if I was a piece of furniture that he was taking home to his family. 

I didn't fight when when I felt rope being tied around my wrists. 

I didn't fight at all. 

What else was I going to do, run away?

Cos, that could totally happen. 

He lifted my limp body up and carried me out of the car as soon as it stopped, and I just limply laid there. 

"Are you dead?" The man joked. 

I still didn't fight. 

I didn't fight as he tied me to a chair or as he locked the shed door when he left. 

But, for the first time, it wasn't because I realized that I didn't have a chance against him, this time it was because I was planning. 

Planning an escape. 

And nothing was going to stop me.
