PROLOGUE

CHAPTER 1
A piercing noise woke me up from my sleep as I waddled downstairs. My brother Colton quickly emerged from his room and threw a concerned look at eachother. Without making a single noise we both silently agreed that there was someone in the house. Our parents were normally out on a business trip this time of month, which only left me and Colton at home.
I quickly grabbed a baseball bat silently as I could and creeped towards the noise.Colton quickly followed, clearly unaware about what was yet to come.
“Get in front of me," I whispered quietly.
“Why, so some stranger in the house can kill me first,” Colton shot back.
“Your older”
“By 3 minutes” Just then a shadow emerged right in front of us. Right when his mouth opened to say something a heavy accent flowed out.
“Can yall bicker any louder, so the intruder can hear exactly where you are and exactly what you're saying?” he questioned. Just then Colton grabbed my bat and swung it at him. As he dodged each swing with the skills like a secret spy, I yanked out my favorite wooden spatula, and landed a hard swing at the side of his head. As he stumbled back Colton sat on him insuring that he wouldn't move.
“Charlie, get the duck tape and get a chair,”Colton said. I left without a word and attached the intruder to the chair. He must have passed out because his eyes were closed and he did not speak until hours had passed by.

My boyfriend had called that morning asking to hang out,but I knew I had to decline because there was still a random guy sitting in the living room. As soon as he was up decided to get answers to my questions. As I paced around the room lasering my eyes onto him until he stirred.
“ Do you mind,” he said while him eyes were sealed shut
“What do you mean,” I said

“Hey, what are you doing”
“Answering your questions”
“Okay,” I said. Finally we could get down to business.
“I was sent by the FBI, to protect you, we have reason to believe you are wanted dead.”
“Hahahaha, me… wanted dead” I said in disbelief. I had never done anything legally wrong, so I knew this had to be a mistake.
“Charlie Reed, is it,” he said as he handed a wad of paper to me.”If you don’t believe me, here is the proof. As I gazed at the paper I knew he wasn’t joking just then my brother walked in and took the papers. After a moment of silence, Colton broke it.189Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡJHsfcp7dKY
“Is this true,” Colton said, as he turned the intruder. I quickly filled Colton in on what he had told me. As Colton nodded he turned to the intruder. ‘Colton,” he said, and stuck out his hand.
“Devin”

CHAPTER 2
“Charlie,” Devin said. “ The FBI enrolled me into your school and I will be acting as a foreign exchange student. I will only be supervising you until we know it's safe for you. I’m the youngest FBI around this area, so they choose me because we have similar ages.
The following day I saw Devin all around school. As I walked to my last class of the day my boyfriend jogged up to me. As we walked hand in hand to our last class of the day together, I could feel Devins eye’s glued to me. I couldn’t tell if it was jealousy or because he was just doing his job. My boyfriend and I took our seats and class began.
“Attention student,” Mrs. Taylor said. “ We will be having a camping trip this semester to wrap up the school year. In a week we will have fun activities like swimming, cliff diving, and hiking. Other information like camping partners and food will be sent in an email after school. Pack light and remember to be safe.”
After classes ended Devin offered to walk me back home. As we slowly headed back home I asked. “ Did you find any new information on the person who is trying to kill me?”
“No,” he said. “The person who wants you dead has done some light stalking. I checked some security footage and this person goes to this school. I did find some fingerprints that match with the stalkers.”
“How do you know it's the stalkers”
“Well, while the person was following you he accidentally touched a medal pole in the middle of the hall. We couldn’t identify the suspect because he was wearing a hoodie, so we couldn’t see his face.”
“I suspected that I was being followed about a week ago, but I didn’t think too much about it,” I said. We stopped just as we rounded the corner onto my block.
“Just be careful,” Devin said. As he took a step closer to me I could smell his cologne. I gazed into his dark brown eyes, and we stood there for a moment.
Just then Colton strolled up to us.“What’s up guys?” Colton said, and me and Devin took a step back.
“I found the stalker's fingerprint. I’m going to bring it to a lab to identify the stalker, but it might take some time. Right now Just try to keep a low profile and blend in. I don’t want you to get killed, otherwise I won’t get my promotion.”
“So, this is all about your promotion,” I said disappointed. “Not about wanting me to be alive, just the promotion, got it.” I quickly walked away before either of them could say something.
The boys followed behind me, clearly bothered about what I said, but I didn’t care. All I was thinking about was my wonderful boyfriends and the camping trip. I was honestly pretty excited. As I walked into the house I flopped onto my bed, while texting my boyfriend.An Hour went by and Devin came to check up on me.
“Hey,” he said. “I’m sorry, look… I want you to be safe, but right now I really need that promotion. I basically support my whole family. I have 2 younger sisters and 1 younger brother. My dad is dead and my mom Is working part time as a waiter to make money. The rest of the time she is takinging care of the kids. My sisters are 14 and 4, and my brother is 8. I’m 19 and besides my mom, I'm the only one who can work. I want my siblings to get into a good college and I don’t want them to stress about money, so I was sorry if I said that I really need this promotion because I really do right now." Devin said. My heart softened as I heard that. He needed the money for his siblings.
“I understand,” I said instantly, feeling guilty. “ I shouldn’t have acted that way without knowing what you've been through.”
“Okay, this is getting cheesy, “ he said through a laugh. We both giggilled and talked for a couple of minutes before he left my room. Once he left I finally realized I had been smiling for the whole time. I couldn’t remember the last time I had felt that way.

CHAPTER 3
It was finally the day of the camping trip. As I walked onto the bus I slid next to my best friend right before the bus left. Devin sat the next row over and we exchanged a couple of glances. Once we got to the camp site my boyfriend and I set up our tents next to each other.
The following morning we had some activities like cliff diving. My best friend, my boyfriend, Devin and I decided to go. Once we got to the spot for cliff diving, my boyfriend said.
“Who wants to go first”
“Not me,” I said. Just then Devin pulled me to the side.
“It’s your boyfriend, he’s trying to kill you.” Before I could say something Devin walked back to the rest of the group, trying not to draw any suspicion. As I went back the rock under Devin and my boyfriend broke. Just then they both grabbed the edge of the cliff me and my best friend were standing on.
“Go get help,” I yelled, right before my best friend started running.
“Help,” my boyfriend called. “My hands are slipping.”
“Don’t listen to him, and help me up,” Devin said
“Why would she help you, she’s my girlfriend?” My boyfriend shot back.
“He’s trying to kill you, I have the proof if you need it. He’s been having an affair behind your back, with your best friend, and he wants you out of the picture.”
“Bullshit”
“Like I said, I have proof. I’m from the FBI and you're under arrest.”
“Charlie, you’ve got to believe me, I would never do that to you, Im the love of you life” There was a brief pause. “Help me up.”
“No,” that was the first word I had said in quite some time. I quickly helped Devin up just before My boyfriend, soon to be ex, slipped and fell.
The rest was a blur to me, and I don’t remember much, but a couple days later Devin and I parted ways.
