Hurrrrroooooo!
The sounds of the enemy's horn startled Weimar out of his dream. He slowly stood up and stared across the horizon to the enemy's territory. The black sky was giving way to a light blue as dawn was approaching. It appeared that the Baroness's men were prepared to take them by surprise. Well, that wasn't going to happen.
"Get up! We are under attack!" The young squire tried to warn the defending soldiers.
"Ey, squire, are you ordering us around?" One of the drowsy, perhaps even drunk, soldiers rasped.
"He is not, but I am." General Beers walked in with Sir Robin Globar. " If you don't get your lazy arses up and man the defenses, then heads will roll-literally!"
That was all the soldiers needed to get motivated. The two men joined Weimar as he looked over the battlements and saw Baroness Shredder of Redwood's men rush the border. The archers open fire before the kingdom's own troops engage the enemy. Weimar knew that even though they were successful in downing several of the enemy troops, they were outnumbered 3 to 1 . They could only hope to stall the Redwood forces until reinforcements from the capitol arrived.
"Things are heating up quite a bit,"the general remarked, watching the battle unfold.
"Indeed they are." Sir Globar smiled. "I have very little doubt we can repel their forces though."
"Of course, your squire was even a great help." Beers nodded at Weimar, smiling.
The humble squie blushed. "It was nothing, I had only done what i was taught to do."
Sir Globar chuckled. "He is too humble."
Suddenly, flaming boulders rained down on the building, causing it tremble and part of its facade to crumble. Weimar and the others held onto the whatever they could to keep from falling off the building. However, not everyone was as fortunate. He heard screams as the soldiers of the kingdom's military plummeted to their death. Even though he was eighteen and had seen his fair share of brutal deaths, he still couldn't resist the urge to turn away.
" The enemy have breached the border tower from under-"
A guard ran toward them, but was downed by an arrow to the throat.
Behind him, several soldiers donning the crimson armor of the Baroness's military charged toward them, raising battleaxes and bellowing war cries.
"Are you ready?" Sir Globar appeared next to Weimar, weapon raised.
"Of course I am, sir." Weimar grinned, clasping his sword in the ready position as well.
"Great, if your father could see you now," the knight began , but he didn't get to finish his sentence as the enemy met them head on.
