"This is messed up Thompson. My salon was closed for the week. How am I supposed to deal with this now?"
"Crap Lee, Mr. Rodriguez won't listen to any of this. Let's try to find scissors. As long as it's chopped, he doesn't care."
I pushed back the blonde threads hindering my sight. Putting the bag aside, I slipped into my jersey while listening to some sophomores freaking out about the coach.
That's the last thing that bothers me. All I worry about right now is stopping Ray from beating the crap out of another player, who probably pushed him inside the changing room as a 'welcome' from the senior.
"You freaking piece of rotting egg don't mess with my fucking head right now." He spit out gripping the jersey of the boy, almost choking him to death.
"Let it be Ray," I said, pulling him back slightly. The struggling figure below him almost tearing up due to the lack of air.
"Don't get in the way Aiden. I am not in the mood." He said turning to me, but not before punching the guy in the face and then walking down to the field.
Whoever got him this angry in the morning is in for a good year.
He's going to cause a lot of problems in school. His reputation is one thing that will make my life harder when we reach senior year.
Ray doesn't have enough friends to make them afraid of him anymore. Those friends are long gone after that big fight.
I could see him throw the ball across the field and through the goalpost. Mr. Rodriguez walks in with the student council president by his side.
"Mr.Turner, I believe you don't deal with violence like that. Don't hope for me to be lenient the next time, because you won't be on this field the next time it happens", he says to Ray but his eyes are focused on me.
"Mr Joseph Lee", he turns his head to the boy who is wearing a cap."I see you don't follow rules for yourself but did you not fill in everybody else about them?".
The shaking sophomore nods his head in a yes and removes his cap before walking back towards the changing room. Mr.Rodriguez does nothing but stare me down. "Mr.Walker I believe you could tell me why Mr.Lee just walked away."
"Because his hair was too long according to your liking."
"Then is somebody else's hair long here?".
"I don't think so."
"I see. No practice for anyone today then. Not this whole week also. Enjoy your holiday."
"I don't think that the length of someone's hair determines their capability of playing rugby, 'sir'".
"Football is a game of self-conduct. Talent and determination are nothing without discipline. You can't buy everything with money. Can you Mr. Walker?" His sharp gaze not staggering for a second.
I clenched my fist and bee-lined towards Thompson before jerking off the trimmer he brought back. There was no need to bring it up. Starting at the sides, I stared right at his face, wishing to trim off the smirk it held too.
Then, when the last strand fell to the ground, I smashed the trimmer on the field.
"Since you are so pumped up today, let's see you score a goal then." He says and motions for the team to take a position before continuing, "Alone."
I walk passed Ray and the group with the ball in my hands. All of them spread across the field waiting for me to take position. As soon as I stopped and faced them all, the coach whistled. Nobody moved a foot. I walked lazily, almost halfway across the field and then heard Ray screaming while running towards me. I took off.
Soon everybody joined in trying to block my way. Three ducks, two sweeps and a jump later I was across the line looking at a smirking Ray in the middle of the field.
The whistle blew once again to announce the start of practice. Everyone started taking place while the coach yelled something about running suicides.
"Good going, Walker," Ray said from my left.
"Can't say the same for you Turner." I smiles lazily.

NICOLE POV
Once.Twice.Thrice.
I see Kenzie blinking, clearly confused about the offer she just received.
"Do you want to join a foursome?", Violet shouted again, loudly, almost making me drop my things.
I rubbed my eyes to make sure that I was hearing correctly."What did you say?" I yelled back whilst trying to steady my breathing.
"Foursome!" she said again and began jumping up and down in excitement.
"I am not here baby, I am hallucination," Pie said continuing to set up her phone stand.
Violet continued jumping, "Because we will have a whole bunch of different kinds of food! We'll have sandwiches and cookies, pancakes and waffles. And chocolate and ice cream! Maybe hot dogs!".
"Just the four of us." She added.
While my eyes were still on an unbothered Vi, I could see Ken relaxing slightly. She slowly walked back to her bed and started cleaning.
Pie laughed in the back and said something along the lines, "Don't get her wrong. She probably saw it on some fishy ramen website comment section. Have to tell George to sort them out later", referring to the tall, men in black, guy outside our building. What's with the whole bodyguard thing?
"Are you going to join?", Pie asked me, finally noticing that I had spaced out.
"I don't know, I'm not feeling very well..." It was true, my stomach hurt terribly. That dumb boy sold me expired doughnuts. Jerk.
"Oh honey you've been sick for a couple of days now, you need to go and eat some meat! There is this popular restaurant nearby going viral right now. Finally, I get the chance", she cried out, wiping imaginary tears away from her eyes.
I didn't answer immediately. My body was hurting but what if I ended up puking at some random restaurant? Or even worse, Ken will see the mess on me and assume I threw up my guts?
"Please, Nicolette. Please, please, please." Vi pleaded again, showing her puppy eyes.
Thinking about it for a few seconds I replied, "Okay. But what about her?". My head swayed towards the figure, now in pants and a hoodie, stuffing something in her backpack.
"Don't worry. She's a sweet sweet ice cream. She agreed before you." Vi said.
I looked over at Kenzie to check what she thought. Her shoulders seemed relaxed and she was smiling. Sweet sweet ice cream indeed.
"So what are we waiting for?", I said.
Pie grinned brightly at me, "Yes! Finally!", and ran off to grab herself a jacket and sunscreen lotion.
"Come on Nicolette, we're gonna be late!" Vi called out from the door, Ken on her side.
I sighed and followed them out.

KENZIE POV
We made our way to the parking lot where a massive pink truck was stationed. The logo was sketched in bright yellow letters .'KBS News'.
As soon as I entered the restaurant the smell hit me like a tidal wave. Fresh food and fragrant spices were wafted in all directions. My mouth watered promptly at the aroma. I couldn't recall the last time I consumed anything but a bland sandwich for lunch. Now I could devour every type of savoury treat imaginable.
It was packed full and only one table was left free near the window. Vi motioned enthusiastically towards the table telling hi to the waiter, who nodded in return.
We went over and sat down.
Vi quickly ordered several plates of eats. When they placed them in front of us, we dug in immediately. I can feel my stomach growling like never before. Vi gave the counter guy a thumbs up, indicating that she enjoyed the tofu stew more than she did. Which was true.
"Hey guys". One of the staff members smiled at us when they came around asking what we would like to drink.
Nic rolled her eyes and replied with a short water.
"Cappuccino please.", Pie said.
"2 blueberry cupcakes and an Oreo shake, please," Vi said.
"No problem.'' He said and winked at Pie who just smiled at him.
After finishing chewing half a plate's worth of food, I turned my attention back to the table. Nic was going about how Pie should have flipped him off and how she would break his jaw if he did that again. Alongside this chaos, Vi was busy with her dessert, the cream frosting of which had made its way to her nose.
Grabbing a paper napkin, I tenderly wiped it off her. She smiled showing her still intact milk teeth. " Thank you, Kenzie."
I couldn't help but smile myself.
"You're welcome." I replied before finishing the rest of the soup.
"Well..., what's your dream major Kenzie? If you don't mind me asking." Pie said, sipping her hot beverage.
I waited for a voice to answer, but silence. Glancing behind, I found Nicole in a trance while looking at me.
"Neurology and psychology", I answered anticipating an uninterested expression when I looked at their faces. None. My glasses too didn't hint otherwise.
"Oh. Is it true that if you dream of someone they are thinking about you?" She asked, with her chin in the palm of her hands.
"The cliche MeTube quotes. Nope. That's just some depressed teen giving hope to another depressed one."
As soon as the sentence left my mouth, all of us burst out laughing. Vi choked on her second cupcake which only added fuel to the fire.
Between all of Pie tearing up, Vi cackling with her mouth open and Nic banging her hand on the table to suppress her chuckles, I could feel genuine happiness. Friends.
While they all continued to mellow out, I took it as my responsibility to help the confused waitress who had been standing there for a while now. I took the bill from her and shot her an apologetic look, before taking a breath myself.
