Naomi didn't know how to feel after what had just happened. She had never let a man get close to her as Anthony did. James had attempted it and it ended up in am argument. She didn't know what had gotten into her. It had just happened and she wasn't sure if she regretted it or not.
She wondered whether he had just complimented her in order to lure her into going to his home, to drive her focus away from the main situation. She refused to believe it. She wasn't that gullible to fall for his trap.
Was she?
Once in a while she would feel Anthony's gaze linger over her and it made her fuzzy inside.
She continued looking out the window distracting herself with the houses passing by at a rapid pace. There was an eerie silence about this place that made her feel uneasy. A distant sound of a hooting owl was the only thing resonating through the atmosphere everything else was still and silent. It felt unnatural like a ghost town reborn. The roads looked abandoned and alone. It gave her the chills. She turned to him "Anthony?"
"Yeah?"
"Why are the roads so empty?"
He glanced at her, "What?"
"The roads..." She said, gesturing to the window and the lonely neighborhood beyond "...why are they so empty?"
His mood turned gloomy instantly as he's fingers encircled the steering wheel "It's late. People have to sleep. They're probably in bed right now like normal human beings would be"
"Yeah I know it's late but I'm just saying. Why is it so desolate. It doesn't feel normal"
"So what? You want people to be walking around in the middle of the night under the rain. Is that what you consider normal?" He retorted
"Why are you getting defensive Anthony? I was just asking. I assumed that people would be walking around."
"..." Anthony remained silent. Naomi was too busy gazing out the window to see how red his hands had turned as he gripped onto the steering wheel
"At Helslip people are always so hyper. You would see people walking around with friends, or cars driving by some people even going on night shifts etc so I assumed here it would be the same."
"Dont assume, that's what gets people killed around here" Anthony murmured, the words seething through his teeth inaudible for the human ear.
She sighed as she realised that she had pinched a sore spot"I'm sorry if I said something wrong. I didn't mean to offend you. "
He sighed and placed a hand on her thigh squeezing slightly "It's ok. I was overreacting too"
Casually she shifted, moving her body closer to the door, getting the hint he removed his hand from her thigh and placed it back on the steering wheel. His eyes cooling over like an iceberg
Naomi gazed out of the desolate neighborhood as beautiful as it was there was still a creepy aura around it but she couldn't seem to place a finger on what the cause could be "There's a curfew in this place." He said as he glanced at her. Catching her curiosity, he went on "People aren't allowed to be walking around when they want to."
Her brow scrunched in confusion as she peered at him under hooded eyes "What's the reason for the curfew?"
"The curfew helps keep order and discipline."
"It's controlling people's lives..."
"It's not your place to say." He grumbled dismissively.
Taken aback she shut her mouth and laid back wandering into her aimless thoughts.
"But if there's a curfew why are you allowed to drive?" Anthony remained silent as he peered to the road before him. Naomi decided to shut her mouth once more.
Why was he being so defensive as if he didn't want her to know something about this place. The more he refused to share the information with her the more curiosity clawed at her begging for more data.
With a deep sigh she laid her head on the glass,as he drove the car nonchalantly as if he hadn't just snapped so rudely at her. Wandering out of her aimless thoughts she wrapped her arms around herself, sustaining the little warmth that threatened to escape her "You're cold?" He inquired of her, his hands already maneuvering to reach out to the backseat, grabbing a coat from its possession.
"No" she shook her head
He glanced at her and practically dumped the coat in her laps "You're shivering. Wear it" With a sigh she brought the coat closer to her, she couldn't help but inhale the whiff of air coming from it, she held it up to her nose , the material was cold on her skin it brought tingles to her fingers causing the hair on her flesh to rise up but as cold as it was it had a soft feeling to it that made her goofy inside she inhaled slightly. And a peculiar smell resonated. Was that peppermint?... "Please don't sniff on my coat. That's weird." His distant voice reprimanded she rolled her eyes and wore his coat.
Exhaustion crept up on her as a yawn sneaked its way out of her. She covered her mouth with her chilly palms as she rested her head against the cold glass closing her lids with a weak sigh. Anthony glanced at her form, she seemed so frail as she curled into herself like a pangolin fearing it's life.
Her lower lip hung low as her silent and calm breaths intruded the peaceful silence of the atmosphere, her chest rose and fell like gentle waves on a shore, a curse left him as he realised where his gaze had landed he returned his attention to the quiet roads his pupils dilating as they struggled to see beyond the car lights "You can sleep, I'll wake you up when we get there" when he got no response he looked at her, a crooked smile breaking out onto his features as he witnessed saliva fall from her mouth onto his car-window.

"Naomi, get up we're here" Her eyes opened slowly, as they gazed into Anthony's steel pupils "We're here" he said simply as he held a hand out to her, she seemed dazed as she placed her hands in his. Slowly he helped her down the vehicle, closing the door behind her they walked side by side.
Her cheeks flushed as she reached over to remove the drool from the side of her mouth at the corner of her eyes she glanced at him, he didn't seem to notice, that she had practically been drooling this whole time and she sighed a sigh of relief at least she didn't embarrass herself in front of him.
Her eyes wandered as she walked out of her daze. They walked silently down a concrete walkway, the only path inbetween two patches of freshly grown green grass. There was a tree grown on each side, standing beautiful and proud in its majesty.
Garden lamps scattered throughout the lawn in a mesmerizing pattern showcasing and amplifying the beauty of the garden. The hair on her skin stood up in silent applause as a chilling wind rustled through the plants.Creating a calm serenity in the atmosphere.
She wondered how more stunning the experience would be in daytime for now under the moonlight it was a gorgeous sight.
"Is this your house?" She couldn't help but inquire as she gazed up at him, her eyes sparkling in the moonlight.
Their eyes interlocked, and she witnessed an emotion flash in his eyes right before he looked away "Yes. It's mine"
She nodded softly gawking at his residence "It's beautiful" she murmured under her breath. They got to the front door and he fished for his keys in his sweat pants- pockets. She stood behind him timidly as her widened eyes fed their curiosity, gawking and gaping at the foreign building.
Anthony finally got his keys and attempted pushing it into the keyhole. Before the key connected with the vent, the door was thrown open with great force causing the key in Anthony's hands to fall from his grip and onto the floor with a clatter. The sound of the key falling to the ground snapped Naomi out of her daze
Color drained from Anthony's face as he saw who stood behind the door Naomi's jaw dropped as her eyes landed on a woman. The woman's hair was a beautiful bob with a sensual looking hair grip in her blonde locks, she wore red sensuous lipstick matched up with nude eyeshadow and blush.
