I don't think I ever really knew the true definition of love. I'm pretty sure I knew what it was with her though. She made my heart skip beats, my breathing so shallow, and made my stomach curl just looking at her. I felt butterflies too, and I knew that was such a girly thing. I didn't want to hide it much longer, but I knew she probably wouldn't accept me. I watched every move she made from a distance, I didn't dare approach her. Then one day, I did just that, exactly what I told myself not to do. I adjusted my brown button up and ran a hand through my dark brown curly hair. My mother told me the shirt matched my hair color and that I would definitely be drawing in the women. I live with my mother still at the age of 25, but she told me I didn't have to worry; soon she'll leave me her home for myself. She made sure to include that in her will. I wiped my mouth clean of any doughnut crumbs, threw the wrapper in the trash, and walked towards my dream girl. She looked so angelic behind the Bailey's Bakery counter. I come here everyday and I got her schedule engraved in my mind. She comes in every morning at 8 a.m exactly. I show up around 7:30, just in time to make sure it's not her at the counter just yet. "Hey Taja." I say softly when I finally approach her. She looks startled, and looks up with her tiny almond-shaped eyes. "How did- did you know my name?" Her voice sounds so innocent, so priceless. I point at her name tag. "Oh!" she laughs "I forget that I wear that. Hey." I chuckle nervously then continue; "There's this new restaurant opening on Monday...I would love if you came with me, Taja." At this point, I'm about to piss my pants. She's smiling but I'm not sure if it's a nervous smile or a good one. "Oh really what's it called? Also, what's your name?" She replied. I take in her warm face again, small dark brown eyes, pretty pink lips, and a whole lot of freckles. "Xavier. And the restaurant is called Nessy's. I heard they got some damn good chicken & waffles." She smiled at me again and gave me her number. Monday. Monday will be the day. Monday will be the day I show her my true love for her.
