Nera, she is the third child of Melonia. She is capable of remembering every second of her dream, even if she doesn't want to. There are two types of dreams. The first are precognitive, which allow her to see events before they even happen. The second, the most common, is a series of looping nightmares that only ends when she dies.
As a lucid dreamer, she experiences the agonizing pain as if it's really happening to her, and so she has become quite numb to it. Her dream today was quite different however, neither a precognitive dream or a looping nightmare.
"I had a dream about aliens today, and this is probably the first time I didn't die."
Ms.Melody, the children's caretaker, didn't respond. She was too busy preparing their breakfast. The children only had two meals a day due to the orphanage's strict budget.
"Aliens aren't real, Nera!"
"Nobody asked for your opinion, Dud!"
The childish comment came from the fifth child of Melonia named Dud, who was sticking out his tongue. He was both extremely lucky and durable, while also being extremely annoying. His talent was discovered as he dangerously climbed a tree, and while the fall should've broke every bone in his body, he left with only a scratch.
Dud always won every game he has played, usually by a single point. Due to this, he has been excluded from most games and competitions that the children come up with, making him a bit of an outcast.
"You two should argue somewhere else, I don't want someone getting burned by accident." To nobody's surprise, they continued arguing. "Dud is immortal, I'm sure a burn won't do anything to him."
"I'm not immortal, stupid! I just have a very strong head!"
"A head filled with nothing but sand."
Stepping into the kitchen was the first child of Melonia. "Nera, Dud, please! At least go into the living room." Ms. Melody sighed in relief as the they walked away. "Thank you, Winter." She said under her breath. Winter was well-mannered, polite, and even helped with chores from time to time.
She was the eldest child, and her talent was seeing and communicating with the dead. Even though there was no evidence of it being true, it was surely enough to scare away the possible families who could've taken her in, since they were not wanting any malevolent spirits haunting them for eternity.
"Did you two happen to forget the rules?"
"If you want to argue, take it outside where nobody has to hear it."
Nera was correct, and with his attitude, Dud crossed his arms and stormed outside. "Thanks for the save, Winter. I love him like a brother, but he is a real pest sometimes."
"I'm just surprised he didn't bring up my age again."
"Why would he?"
"In a few weeks, I will be turning eighteen, and so I will likely be thrown out of the orphanage to survive on my own."
"I thought your birthday wasn't until next month."
"I thought so too, but even if it was, it wouldn't made much of a difference. No parent wants a creepy ghost whisperer as a child." Nera put her arm on Winter's shoulder. "I'm sure there is someone out there who would adopt you. I definitely would, if I wasn't an orphan myself."
"Thanks, that means a lot." Winter chuckled. "Yet, I'm pretty scared. All they gave me was a piece of paper with available jobs in the city, and told me where the nearest homeless shelter was."
"Yeah, after you go, it will be Delta, then me." Nera was terrified herself. She was only two years younger than Winter, but had serious trouble doing things independently. "I wouldn't be able to survive on my own."
"I'm sure you'll do fine, Nera. You just need to have a little more confidence."
A switch was flipped, and both of them knew what that meant. "Speaking of the devil, there he is."
The radio was blasting metal, and the second child of Melonia was just head banging along to it. "Delta! Please, turn that down!" Winter asked politely. He rolled his eyes and turned the radio's knob.
Delta's talent was memorization. He could listen to a song once and remember the lyrics perfectly. He once played memory match with fifty cards and perfectly matched every single one of them on his first attempt. He could probably memorize the first hundred digits of pi, but he hated math, so that wasn't happening.
"How can you even still hear?" Nera commented. "Come on, you know it's part of my daily routine! I don't complain when you spend an hour in the bathroom, putting on makeup."
"What I do in the bathroom isn't your business."
"It is when I need to go."
"Gross."
"We all do it, Nera. Anyways, the only one who looks good in makeup around here is Winter." She backs away flustered.
"I don't even remember the last time you took a shower." Nera continued. "Are you saying I don't take showers, because I take showers... once a month."
"Eww. I'm fairly certain Winter wouldn't date a guy who could give her the plague."
"She's right, cleanliness is important, Delta."
Delta stared blankly, turning his radio back on. "This conversation is over."

The children sat together at the dinner table, Dud was being ill mannered as always. "Can someone please-" Interrupting Winter was the seventh child of Melonia, Eri. "I got it!" She shouted, holding her hand like she was about to use telekinesis. "Eri, if you are going to pass it over, use your hands." Nera commented.
Eri didn't really have a talent, unless you counted her creativity. She was a daydreamer, always lost in her own thoughts. If it wasn't for her lack of motivation and her desire to give up so easily, she would become a great artist.
"No, don't worry, it will work sooner or later."
"I don't want to wait until later." Winter said, picking it up herself. "Ha ha!" Dud mocked. "Do you think telekinesis is real, Eri?"111Please respect copyright.PENANAQCrjOFFrdm
"Let the girl dream, doofus!"
"I don't want you two arguing again." Winter complained. "Nera, stop arguing with him. Dud, let Eri believe what she wants to. She might surprise you one day."
Winter continued loading her syrup covered pancakes with even more sugar. Her sugar addiction was likely beyond helping at this point, but interrupting their breakfast was a loud knock on the door.
"That was aggressive." Eri shouted. "What in the world?" Ms. Melody opened the door, only to watch as an old man tried gasping for air. "Help, something is-" He fell to the floor unconscious, but still alive. "Children, one of you get the nurse in here now!"111Please respect copyright.PENANA1cN3vlLhQo
