I saw the light gone from his eyes
And I had to kiss it back
He was alive yet he was dead
He was slumped by the silvery pump well
That we were taught we should be grateful for
And I gave him water straight from my
Two-litre plastic barrel
And he knew not to waste it
I saw the jagged softness in his smile
He was more dead than alive
I will end whoever did this to him
If it's the last thing I do
