The smoke sizzled out from the barbeque pit. They were all smiling, celebrating for their first victory. Ze Liang gave her the non-alcoholic drink, not wanting her to get drunk that day.
"Where's the bastard anyways," En Shuo questioned as he looked around.
"He went back home, too busy to deal with us," Ze Liang said, "Might as well be like that, I can't stand him anyways."
Jiao Huang sat beside her, eating the meat that was being cooked up. Lu Xia looked at Ai Jia who was fighting with En Shuo with the barbeque pit.
"That's not how you do it. You have to put the butter, it'll make it nicer," Ai Jia said.
"That's wrong bro. Who in the world will do that that?" En Shuo argued back. The both of them kept arguing back and forth. Lu Xia let out a sigh, walking up to them and smacking them both.
"I'll do this shits," Lu Xia said as she snatched the tongs to barbeque the prawns. Jiao Huang quietly looked at Lu Xia, occasionally staring at her. But those tiny glances are often noticed easily by some person.
"I'll go help her," Jiao Huang casually said, walking towards her. En Shuo and Rong Rong let out a giggle, gossiping about the two.
"What? What are you doing here?" Lu Xia questioned as she looked at Jiao Huang who took over her original job.
"Helping. You look terribly dumb while doing it," Jiao Huang replied, knowing that Lu Xia would start beating him up because of it. Instead he heard a sigh, he turned his head, seeing Lu Xia rolling up her sleeves, revealing the bruises, now lighter than before on her arm.
"Does he do that often?"
It was quiet between the two. Neither wanted to speak first nor change the topic.
"It's normal. He does it often because of my stupid mouth," Lu Xia said, "Don't tell my Ge and Lu Yue, I don't want them to worry about me." Jiao Huang looked at her, making a mental note to himself.
"You can't tell me that they aren't dating. They look so compatible together," Ai Jia whispered as he looked at the two, "Ze Liang, you're losing out. If you don't clinch the woman's heart first, the rival will get it and boom, you lose. Be a man and confess to that woman."
Rong Rong and En Shuo looked at Ai Jia confusingly, looking back and forth at Ze LIang and Ai Jia.
"Bitch, you like her? Since when? How did we not notice?" Rong Rong shouted as he stood up from his chair. Ai Jia hissed loudly, pulling Rong Rong down when he realised the conversation had already caught Lu Xia's attention and not to mention, Jiao Huang's.
"Maybe if you were more attentive you would notice," Ze Liang quietly said, trying prevent showing his mouth moving.
"Who likes who? Ze Liang, you like someone?" Lu Xia asked as she walked towards them, leaving Jiao Huang to do all of the work. Ze Liang mentally cursed to himself, making sure that he will kill Rong Rong later.
"Yeah I do. She's really pretty, smart, she's a very good gamer too," Ze Liang said, trying not to hint too much.
"This is too mushy. Ze Liang, say that when we are not here. This is too gross for us," En Shuo said as he faked vomited. Rolling his eyes, he looked at Lu Xia who was looking very shocked. She moved closer towards him, staring at him.
”Is it Tong Yao?” Lu Xia said, Ze Liang’s eyes widen and before he could even respond, she shouted. “She’s off limits. Don’t you dare fight with my brother. I don’t want him to start bawling his eyes out and proceed to hug me like a cry-baby."
Ze Liang rolled his eyes, hitting Lu Xia's shoulder. Letting out a fake cry, she smacked Ze Liang's shoulder before kicking his leg. Whining in pain, he started hugging Ai Jia who was trying to get out his reach.
Jiao Huang placed the freshly barbequed seafood on the table, seating next to Lu Xia. Noticing that she wasn't eating anything, he took one of the unpeeled prawns and started peeling it for her.
"Lu Xia, eat this." She turned around seeing her plate with the peeled prawns and ate it. Returning a smile to him, she looked back down on her phone.
Days past and the group was constantly trying to practice again and again, without the manager chiding on them. Jin Yang often visit, to see Ai Jia mostly.
"Jin Yang, removing Ai Jia from blacklist within 3 months?" Lu Xia questions as she looked at Jin Yang with a face of disappointment, "The two of you can't keep on breaking up and getting back together. What if y'all get married and decided to divorce and then do the same. It would be again and again."
Jin Yang sighed before covering her face with a pillow. "I know..." Lu Xia turned around before pushing the chair towards the bed.
"If you want it, clinch it. Don't let it go ever again. If you do, by then, Ai Jia would already go for the next target," Lu Xia said as she pulled the pillow away from Jin Yang.
Jin Yang let out a groan when she heard Lu Xia. "Enough about me. What about you? Is the group still taunting you?"
Lu Xia kept quiet. Her smile disappeared when she heard it, pushing her chair back to her desk and looking back at her ipad. Her hands tightly held the pen as she steadied her breath.
"It doesn't matter whether they are going to bother me. So far, they haven't," Lu Xia said as she looked at Jin Yang, giving her a smile. It was a lie. Lu Xia made it as though it was real, after all it feels like a normal thing to her.
"LU XIAAA, this stupid Jiao Huang is asking to go get a new pet. He wants to go to the animal market," Ai Jia screamed. Lu Xia looked up before looking at Jin Yang, loudly sighing and walking out of the room.
"Enjoy your fucking honeymoon with princess yang," Lu Xia said as she walked down the stairs, seeing Jiao Huang all dressed up, ready to go. "Do you not know how to speak Chinese to the owners?"
Jiao Huang constantly blinked when he heard her before acting dumb. "뭐? 중국어가 뭐야? (What? What's Chinese?)" Lu Xia glared at him before taking out her shoe and wearing it. They walked out of the villa, getting into Ai Jia's car without permission with the help of En Shuo stealing it.
"운전 안하시나요? (Aren't you driving)," Jiao Huang questions as Lu Xia took the passenger seat. She shook her head, taking out her phone and looking for the GPS.
"Ai Jia will kill me if I drive his car," Lu Xia simply said as she continued to look through her phone, "Follow this and you'll reach that." Jiao Huang looked at Lu Xia before slowly nodding his head, changing his attention to the front.
The ride was quiet, other than the soft, aesthetic music playing in it. Lu Xia let out a sigh before changing the song.
"This is for all my ladies~"
Jiao Huang stared at Lu Xia weirdly, seeing the girl hyping up with the song. He felt his stomach tickling him like butterflies fluttering around. He stared at the girl, it felt something familiar, something that he felt before.
Reaching there, she opened the door walking towards the market's entrance. "What are you getting?" Lu Xia questions as she looked at Jiao Huang who was still strolling his way.
"A cat. The villa feels quiet without one," Jiao Huang replied, looking at the animals that were displayed. Lu Xia silently nodded her head.
"You know... The manager doesn't like pets. That's why we don't have one," Lu Xia muttered as she looked at the cat there was looking back at her. Jiao Huang heard her before giving her a tiny smile.
"Well, what's he going to do about it? I'm considered one of the most high valued paid gamer. If he tries to do anything, his loss," Jiao Huang joked as he continued to stare at the girl who was interacting with the cat.
Its snow white fur with faint grey lines captured his attention. But what actually captured his entire self was her soft smile that she presented. Lu Xia slowly patted as it meowed at her.
A soft click was heard and she diverted her attention to Jiao Huang who was holding onto his phone, taking pictures of her. "Delete it. I look ugly in it," Lu Xia said as she tried to get the phone away from Jiao Huang. Blame on her stupid short height. She tip toed to reach his height but as he lifted the phone higher. She slowly lost her balance.
His hands instinctively grabbed her waist as they stumbled backwards. Her hands grabbing his arm to support herself. They stared at each other, ears red from embarrassment. Neither let go till the cat meowed once more, cutting off their attention from each other.
Looking at each other awkwardly, they separated from each other, awkwardly looking around. "Let's get that cat," Jiao Huang said before going to the shop owner to get the cat.
Lu Xia looked down at the ground, mind still at where she was holding onto Jiao Huang for dear life. She watched Jiao Huang who was talking to the shop owner before her brain turned fuzzy.
Jiao Huang wanted her to accompany him to help him speak to the locals but he was clearly capable of dealing it himself. Little did she know, it was a pure, innocent excuse to go on a date with her.
