I get several messages a week that someone wants to promote “my book” and make it popular all over the world.
The record number of offers I got was 17 in one week!
It sounds interesting, does it not? Here are some observations I have made:.
Many start with “Dear Author," which means that this person most likely scammed others with the same message.
Many wish to promote “my book.” This is strange, as I do not write books. I write short stories.
They write something that they enjoyed “my book," but not which "book" or why it was so good.
Most of these messages are vague.
A few times, when I played along, I asked how much all this would cost. I never got a concrete answer. So, basically, it is like writing a blank check.
Would a promotor or someone who could promote me not have credentials, like a website or an external information source where one can see their abilities and qualifications?
When I ask a question, they do not answer it.
Many of these so-called experts have just joined this site, and they imply that they have helped so many people here.
Some have even written, "Are you an author?” which means they have no clue what I wrote or if I am any good.
I even had some who wanted to blackmail me for accusing me of being a certain type of person.
So here are my thoughts: 259Please respect copyright.PENANAcoVDqiTDBE
I doubt that these people read my stories. I think other authors, like me, have the same message. I think these marketing experts see who has updated a story and send the same message to them all.
I also wonder: if a promotor was so successful, why would they need to spam authors on this site?
For people like me who do this as a hobby, there are countless sites you can publish your story on, so making your story available for free is not a huge task. I have spoken with a professional promoter who helps people get on Amazon. He was very honest with me and said that I could be on Amazon, but then he could not guarantee success. He could not guarantee anyone success. For this reason, he only charges a percentage of what a person receives. 259Please respect copyright.PENANAGhzklPcbBS

So here is my conclusion: 259Please respect copyright.PENANAtn0bNKKovG
I write short stories as a hobby. I honestly do not think that they are good enough to publish. A potential promoter could tell me why this is wrong. They are also on different websites. Some of my stories have more than 30.000 hits, which is enough to make me smile. So what could a promoter do better? The people who do ask me to hire them as promoters do not have any evidence that they are good at what they are promising to do. At times, I find it hard to see the difference between these promoters and telephone scammers.
