Once we had all our new stuff in our rooms I made sure Alice was in bed and then Kenza and I passed out almost immediately on our separate sides of the bed.

The next morning, I wake up to sniffling and heavy breathing, I’m confused on who or what is making the noises but then I remember that Kenza was here. Realizing that thought isn’t reassuring though. I gently moved to shake her shoulder to see what was wrong.

I feel dumb for even thinking they could be nurses, they had to be some friends he had before he went into the coma. “Peter and Will?” I ask just to be sure.

“They were friends I had in before the coma but in the coma I thought we had gone our separate ways but apparently that didn’t happen. We hung out for a while yesterday and caught up, they’re really cool. You guys will like them.” So I was right about the friends thing.

Kenza then starts moving around and making noises in her sleep, I get up and go over to see if she’s okay. She’s crying again and I want to comfort her but I don’t know if I should wake her up or if I should let her sleep.

I decide waking her up is probably the better option. “Hey, Puck. I’m gunna go. Kenza’s waking up and I think she’s crying. I’ll call you again later and we can make plans to come to see you.” I hurry up and say.

“Bye, Dude.” I say as I hang up. I set my phone down on my night stand, then reach over and shake Kenza’s shoulder to wake her. “Kenza. Kenza you need to get up. Kenza.” I say softly but loud enough to wake her.

“M-my p-parents.” She says, bursting into sobs. I instantly pulled her in to my arms, hugging her. She wrappes her arms around me and sobs into my shoulder. I just let her while I hold her in my arms and stroke her hair.

We sat like that for a long time just hugging each other, Kenza crying, and me comforting her.

I guess the only way to figure something out would be to have a talk with parents about it. “The only thing I can do is talk to my parents and see what we can work out.
