He woke up the next morning in an unrecognizable room with a splitting head-ache. He remembered back to the prom, but the last thing he could recall was drinking that second drink. He made a mental note never to drink again.
Even though the bed, which he now presumed was a hotel bed from the blankness of the room around it, was stupidly uncomfortable, especially because he was lying on his side- something that he normally didn’t do- he didn’t want to get up. Not because he was dead tired, which he definitely was, but because all of his muscles were as taught as a rope and he felt if he moved, he’d throw up.
He felt a slight movement. He realized then that it was raining outside, which was strange when contrasted to the sticky heat of the previous night. He wondered if the movement he felt was a drop of rain. He wondered if the top of the room had been leaking all night.
His head felt so bad that he was sure his skull was crushing under some sort of pressure. He couldn’t think straight, but tried to ignore it. He wondered what the time was. He wanted to punch his yesterday self for forgetting not just a watch but his phone as well.
He really wanted painkillers. Even though he was sure that he’d be sick if he got off the bed, but he knew he needed to. Is this what a hangover was? His muscles ached.
A noise sounded from behind him as he sat up. He now knew that that movement was definitely not a drop of rain.
Reluctantly, he looked over his shoulder, and his itching eyes focused slowly onto the figure behind him. It was the girl from yesterday. And from what he could see, she was completely naked.
He threw up.

The next few days was fueled by anxiety. While at school, he avoided seeing her like she was the plague. She had found him on social media and she had messaged him tens- no, hundreds of times since they’d been together.
He’d tried to ignore these, but he ended up reading a few as their notifications popped up on his phone. ‘Hey’, ‘Talk to me’ and ‘Want to go out?’ were the most common messages that appeared on his screen.
After the sixth day, he was somewhat of a boiling pot of anxiety and stress. He didn’t want to speak to her at all. He’d made a mistake, he repeated over and over, and he wished she’d just stop hassling him.
He got angry at everything and anything. When people talked to him he either ended up screaming at them, or just ignoring them completely. He’d break things by accident- at first it was a mug filled with steaming coffee, and then it progressed to pens, pencils, rulers and other items of stationary.
By the start of the second week, she’d gotten a few of her friends that were in the same classes as he was to start hassling him as well. She wants to speak to you, they said, she wants you to answer her calls and texts, they said, stop ignoring your girlfriend, they said.
He started to loose sleep. He couldn’t focus on anything any teacher said. He wanted the world to fade out around him. He didn’t want her as a girlfriend. His head would be filled with thoughts of panic, self-disappointment, anxiety of what she would do next, and the hope that she’d forget everything that had happened between the two that night.
He started to skip school. He couldn’t deal with the pressure any more. She’d been messaging him up to two hundred times a day- he’d been counting all of the notification pings in somewhat of a way to calm himself down. After a couple of days of him not going to school, she’d found out where he lived. That night, she’d stood in his backyard, doing nothing but staring up at his window. He had been terrified. She had disappeared by the morning.
Three weeks had passed, and he had been reduced to a mess. He hadn’t gone out of his room in a week. He heard a notification on his phone, but this time different. It was text. He rushed to it, thinking it was maybe it was a friend asking if he was alright.
It wasn’t. She’d gotten a hold of his number somehow, and sent one single text to him. It read ‘I’m pregnant.’
He screamed, and threw the phone across the room.
