Though it had been Travis's plan to review the story through the week, so that he could submit it on the weekend, Fate had some other plans for him.
At work, one of their clients, who was a cutting tools manufacturer, had requested an enhancement to one of their applications. This was necessary as the client was considering changing one of their core business processes substantially. So, throughout the month, the Re-Solved team had been slowly but steadily carrying out requirements gathering and discussing the possible implementation approaches with the client.
However, on Monday the twenty first, the approach was finalised and the client gave them the go ahead. As they were planning to start work on Gear Up in January, Jim proposed that the team try to finish this assignment off by mid December, so that their year-end holiday would not be affected. This suggestion was met with unanimous approval by the team.
Travis had expected this beforehand and had wisely planned to complete the story one week in advance, so that he would not need to leave it incomplete. The reduction in free time would only mean that he would not be able to review it in as much detail as he would have liked to. In addition,Also, work would get progressively more in the coming weeks, as the implementation advanced towards completion.
So, Travis decided Saturday, the twenty sixth of November, as the day to upload his word count on NaNoWriMo website and mark the story as completed on Penana. Accordingly, he spent most of the day reviewing the story and correcting a few minor spelling and grammatical mistakes that had slipped by. Once he was satisfied, he marked the story as completed on Penana.
Next up was updating the word count on the NaNoWriMo website. From the NaNoWriMo page on Penana, he had found that this word count was twenty nine thousand six hundred and forty eight words. This he entered on the NaNoWriMo site. As it was less than fifty thousand, there was no need to do anything more.
For the remainder of the weekend Travis divided his time between reading and playing games. On Sunday evening, he spent a few minutes planning the next day's activities.
As he went to bed on Sunday night, he resolved to analyse his NaNoWriMo experience in more detail during the year-end holiday.
