               "My Heart is a Phantasm"

My heart, a swirling vortex blacker than Lucifer's eyes,

Yet glowing brighter in my chest than a blacklight on a hippy's shelf.

I digress; I hold my trauma close and my love closer,

An endless storm on an unmapped ocean.

Not a moment too soon, a person or event cuts me deep.

All I know is loss.

I am swallowed by my grief and surrender inside my heart.

Close my eyes and I'm invisible,

A ghost, a mere memory of a person once complete.

I'm not myself anymore.

I hide in the chasm in my chest, my heart.

My heart is a phantasm, a phantom in an old chapel,

A mist on a dark English countryside.

A chime of my passing may be heard,

As the last chapter is interred.

Bringing a ghastly illusion, I haunt the memories of those who knew me,

But they don't see me anymore.

I am consumed by darkness; I and my world is no more.
