Poetry Corner - This Shadow of a Dream

Fours walls all around,

But no roof above

Fours walls, falling down,

Collapsing in on me,

Where's my futures end,

On a path with dead trees?

Cold December wind,

Pulls at heart strings

Cold white fingers,

Grip at the bed sheets

My life,

Is only the shadow of a dream

My life, falling apart at the seams

I'll never be free

I'll never be free to go,

Only free to leave

This train's traveled far,

But the rails don't have an end,

No station, just the broken remains

Of the subway

And the light at the end,

Is just another train passing by this life

Isn't it sad?

We try and try,

Trying not to cry,

Hold ourselves together and then we fall apart,

Like fireworks,

An explosion of our hearts

And the sobs echo off these white halls

My life,

Is only the shadows of a dream

My life, falling apart right in front of me

I'll never be free,

This life is chained to a grave,

I'll never be, I'll never see

The petals of another spring
