記得以前大學迎新營活動中，新生與老鬼都很「文青」，一次的野火營晚會上，大家都拿出結他彈奏及大唱英文歌。其中，最難忘的是阿巴樂隊的「費爾南多」(ABBA《Fernando》) ，為什麼？不知道！
但在黑白的記憶中，這歌曲卻是故事中有故事、敘事者中再有敘事變奏：首先，原版瑞典語版本的歌詞由 ABBA 經理 Stig Andersson 創作，與英語版本有很大不同。在原著中，敘事歌者試圖安慰因失去摯愛而傷心追憶的費爾南多。
但後來，英文版的歌詞到了比約恩·烏爾瓦烏斯 (Björn Ulvaeus) 的手上創作，歌詞則截然不同------表述了兩位老兵的懷舊情懷，以及對他們參加過的久違戰鬥的回憶。填詞者說過：「我把所有的歌曲都寫成了小故事。《費爾南多》是關於兩個老人為擺脫墨西哥革命而爭取自由的故事。一個夏夜，他們躺在外面，盯著星星……」「我想一定有一個標題叫《費爾南多》，想了想，我發現墨西哥有兩個年老受傷的革命者生活在夜裡，我的腦海裡浮現出我們坐在外面談論舊事的情景…… 」
一眨眼間，又在星光下海灘中某星座在頭上，大家圍著野火彈奏唱歌了。有一次，朋友A在大學教書並做了某宿舍註校總監，邀請我們這些老鬼回去參加大學迎新營活動；原來晚上也有野火營晚會，也有結他伴奏唱歌，我們這些老鬼也唱了ABBA《Fernando》------但就不知為何會唱這一首老歌------既跟當時氣氛不大配合，也好像跟年青人格格不入？為何會記得歌詞？就像《Carry On Till Tomorrow》一樣，大家一說便會唱？其實也有人把歌詞列印了出來，讓大家跟著唱！
事後想來，好的歌曲或都有好的旋律，無論時地人怎改變也好，也都會令人朗朗上口而回味無窮吧？
