2218年，在經歷了多年嚴重的貧富差距問題後，隨著新上任的市長的一聲令下，將整個久我山都市中的富人區升上了天空，城市如同被切斷般，分裂成上下層。

在下層貧民窟生存的長門兄妹，從懂事以來便被關在深不見底的工廠中，重複著不見盡頭的奴隸生活，在兩人十五歲時，一場燃燒了整個貧民窟的大火，將兩人解放出來。

在離開貧民窟後，兄妹做起了以委託維生的賞金獵手，期望能理解恩人在死前所說出那句「活出自己想要的人生吧！」
