序章

那天本該是再尋常不過的傍晚。

晚霞把天空染成豔麗的粉橘色，一聲啼哭刺破了天際。

但新生兒的降臨並沒有為森林帶來喜悅。一群精靈圍在門前想一探究竟，卻被走出門的祭司驅趕。見祭司一臉凝重，大夥識趣地散開。徒留抱著嬰孩的母親虛弱的躺在床上，凝視著大哭的孩子。


赤鬼。

精靈們是這麼稱呼他的。

在精靈的眼裡，紅色是不祥的顏色，那代表火光與災難。鮮豔的顏色出現在森林也往往與毒素掛勾。而精靈族除了白皙的皮膚，最讓他們引以為傲的便是鮮亮的頭髮，精靈大多是金髮或是綠髮，在他們眼裡那意味著生機盎然，是他們與森林密不可分的一種連結。

而他的頭髮是紅色的，比晚霞還絢爛的紅色，像是下一秒就要燃燒的烈焰之色。

祭司不願透露有關他的預言，沒有精靈願意讓同齡的孩子跟他一起相處。他生活在這個聚落，卻像是不曾存在那樣。
