"Something happened." Azazel spoke from within the cave walls. The sound of his voice echoed back to him.
He clenched his hand over his phone as he proceeded to inform his benefactor, Eros de Magnus Nezerah, that they've failed the one task they've been instructed to do. Along with the fact that they even lost both their own members and some of the reinforcements they've been given.
"Something happened?" His benefactor questioned with a sharp and cold tone.
"Y--Yes. Something. A light." He struggled to breath, remembering the blaring white light that accompanied the darkness he was suddenly sucked into. "It blinded us and we--we ran."
"You ran away!" Eros laughed huskily. Though Azazel could tell that he was anything but cheerful.
"They had powers. Different from what was reported to us. We couldn't get her."
"Of course, they did. She's bonded to the Child of Light after all." The benefactor scoffed.
"But-- I have something useful." He bit down on his lip hard as he replayed the information given to him through a small bug they managed to attach to one of the walls of the house.
"Which is?"
"The target is leaving. With her sister. I heard whispers that they're on their way to San Francisco."
"Interesting." Eros's voice dripped like poison laced honey, sweet but deadly. Azazel knew he needed to tread carefully. They might've lost some of their members but he was still alive. And he would stay that way, as long as his finished the plan.
"We can still corner them on the road." He explained. "We still have a chance to catch her."
"No." Eros said sharply.
"What?" Azazel began but immediately backtracked on his words. Eros was a man who could end his undead existence from miles away. Especially since their linked through his family. "I'm sorry, sire." He replied, so terrified that he'd accidentally slipped back into his old tongue.
"Return to the arranged meeting place. I'll give the next orders there."
"What about--"
"Leave her for now." Eros said. "She'll be headed straight to me."
