Do you remember last Valentines Day? It was a lovely spring day, I can vividly remember the sweet scent of roses lingering throughout the air, the leaves of trees dancing in the wind as it gently blew. The sky was clear, with only a couple fluffy clouds scattered about. The songs of swallows filled the air, to usher in a fresh beginning to spring. On that day, I confessed my love to you. I delivered you an envelope, with my heart stuck inside. At first I thought it was a bit embarrassing, who wrote letters anymore to confess to one's love? Yet the smile that grew on your beautiful face as you read more of the letter is something I could never forget... all my embarrassment was washed away at that moment, it truly filled my heart with joy. Your smile was so warm and gentle, so innocent, your happiness radiated from you and into me. It was truly amazing... I had never felt so alive before.
Sophie, I want to see you smile like that again... to see the true unbridled joy that was shared with me. To relive the scorching hot August school days, to which I'd dry up like a prune, but you'd always thrive. To drink tea and coffee on the cold rainy days that seemed to always come without warning, debating the problems of the world to pass time. To embrace after a long week of finals, lighting each other's flame after school had drained us of all our fuel. If I could restart the clock, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Yet time is cruel isn't it? It has been to us... I know deep down, that things will never be the same. That from this day forward or maybe the next, you'll be whisked away to another world. The poison from the wheel is not easily cured, even with the kiss of a prince, the sickness within you has spread.
But as the world around you decays, the once comforting early fall days turn to acid rain, I'll be there. I am your knight, and I always will be, even if I cannot psychically aid you in this battle I will be there to comfort you, even in your last moments... Sophie, even though I'm your knight, your valor shines brighter than mine. You've fought for so long to once again see the sun rise. To bring light to the darkness that has swallowed you whole. Even now I know you're fighting, and for that I'm proud of you. Your parents are, your friends are, everyone admires your strength in this time of struggle. I just wish... that things would turn out differently, that the storm would clear and not blow you away. I love you Sophie... I don't know what I will do without you... just promise me... that you'll be waiting for me on the other side... okay?
I'm sorry, that I'm not here to tell you these words in person... I don't know if you'll still be awake by the time I arrive and I want you to once again hear my words, just for one final time... Don't forget my heart is still with you Sophie, for now and forevermore. It will be here with you in life, and eventually death.
