Since Kilon's return to the Link, hundreds of years would have passed on Erta. Things will have changed drastically for the Lightborn. For one Litkin was brought back to life, but eventually some of the Lightborn ventured back towards the Gargantuan Forest, near the edge of the Lands Between Mountains. This was due to some Lightborns like Salvete who wanted to explore more of what the nature had to offer.
Meanwhile other Lightborns have explored more of Erta. Wanderers they were called and would return home once every ten years or so. They would bring tales from afar and show various plants and animals they found. Art has also picked up, the Lightborn using their lights to inscribe in stone, leather and the like. Some preferred using tools made of the grey matter, while others would develop more peculiar ways, such as worm inscribing, where they would either thame or subdue a rootworm and leave on their skins various messages or artworks.
Menoel worked hard and long to make better defensive measures against future threats, and with the help of Galanius, such a thing was realized under the name of the 'Sunborn'. As Galanius' craft became better and better, he eventually found ways to place his orders and thoughts into other less solid materials. His biggest accomplishment was harnessing and manipulating the fire and magma of an active volcano.
Through long trial and error, he eventually made the first generation of the Sunborn. Small and not so strong, they were mainly used as fuel sources for their furnaces. But eventually Galanius improved his designs, shape and construction, to the point where the Sunborn had thoughts of their own.
They were still in accord with Galanius', but they would come up with their own designs and methods to craft tools and eventually weapons, which was what Menoel wanted the most.
The Sunborn have been sent down south where their sheer heat and strength reshaped the entire landscape. What once were green fields and tall hills, they turned into an arid desert over the course of hundreds of years. Most of the species have died in the process, but a few adapted. The rootworms in particular have become larger and their skins tougher. Known as the desert terrors, it's mainly the Sunborn who manage to tame some of them.
The Lightborns themselves haven't become much stronger over the course of time, reaching a plateau where they had a certain mastery over their lights and manipulating various natural elements, but not to the same extent as Lightborns such as Galanius, Menoel and Kilon. This was attributed to the fact that having no more natural challenges, there was no more need to become stronger or particularly skillful.
The Lightborns that had been in the Gargantuan Forest remained a few steps above most, as the Gargantuan Forest has been deemed perhaps the most dangerous place on Erta with the exception of the Frozen Passage.
Avaanel together with what remained of the Groundbreakers and the Sweepers managed to find more potent and stronger materials, as well as materials with various uses. Those were used in rebuilding Litkin, as well as empowering the Lightborn with better, more specific tools.
Every Lightborn until Kilon's return would have weapons made of steel alloys, various clothes and tools to each own's desires. This created a sense of individualism that brought forth more discoveries. Avaanel in particular focused on remaking the light sharing system inside Litkin, to then help Menoel and Galanius develop stronger weapons for what was to come. The Sunborn have helped immensly in particular later on, as their tools forged by their fires allowed for weapons and tools that they call 'artifacts' to be made.
Those weapons and tools are able to not only be infused with light and such, but some can also enable Lightborns to manipulate various aspects of nature they themselves can't.
During Kilon's absence, contact has been made with another world. A god by the name of Dwurit approaches the Lightborns.13Please respect copyright.PENANAGLbp4CJhgH
