"What? Like watching Trent trying to light his farts on fire?" Giggled Katie. "I don't know why you're so obsessed with him Emma, he's a moron." Emma crossed her arms and pouted.
"No like, stuff moving on its own, lights flickering- the whispers?!"
"Circe... are you okay?" Josh asked, with a look of concern plastered on his face.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry guys." Circe replied, whilst picking at her salad.
When the final bell rang, releasing her from the confines of the school, Circe's thoughts were consumed by the enigmatic events of the day. She yearned for a sense of normalcy, a grounding presence to help make sense of the extraordinary.
Arriving home, Circe bathed in the warm embrace of her mother, Amelia. The scent of her homemade lasagna wafted through the air, bringing comfort and a cozy sense of home. The table was set with care, the vibrant colors of the meal inviting and comforting.

"You're probably right." She sighed, "But I just can't shake the feeling that there's something more to it, Mom. It's like the whispers and the signs are calling out to me."
Amelia reached out, her hand gently resting on Circe's. "Like I said, baby bird, I'ts probably just nerves getting the better of you. You know I saw about this psychological effect called the 'invisible audience' on the te-"
"Ten O'clock news?"
She sighed, "Yeah.." Then she looked back up at Circe, who was red in the face laughing, as she began to chuckle herself too.
After dinner, Circe retreated to her bathroom before delving into her own thoughts. The warm water of the shower cascaded over her, cleansing away the worries of the day. Dressed in her favorite pajamas, she settled onto her bed, Moby Dick in hand.
Chapter after chapter, she immersed herself in the vast oceans of Melville's words. The grand tale of Captain Ahab and his relentless pursuit of the great white whale offered a temporary escape, a respite from the mysteries that enveloped her world.
