Adelle: WHAT? I have things to do after school. Besides.. I don’t think the little extra credit will compensate for the cleaning I have to do.

Mdm Wilson: Hey, it’s the best job in the school. Only takes a little under an hour and in return, you get an extra 3% on every assignment you submit for the year. Do you want to pass up this opportunity?

Adelle really wanted to enter a good college after high school. So she figured she’d just take up the “best” job in the school. Adelle sighed as Mdm Wilson continued with her lesson. Every second of Mdm Wilson’s lesson was a pain. She couldn’t believe she had returned to school after the holidays only to do complex algebra on the first day. Apart from having lame surprises, Mdm Wilson was also the most ambitious teacher and would give the class questions meant for college students.

The school bell rang and Adelle had awoken from her slumber. She had fallen asleep in Mdm Wilson’s class and it was time for lunch. Adelle was so tired from doing Mdm Wilson’s unreasonable problems, she fell asleep again. Shanice tried to wake Adelle up for lunch but Adelle refused and insisted on napping. So Shanice just left Adelle alone to go have some food.

While Adelle was left alone in her homeroom class for a good amount of time, a boy came into class. The boy’s class after the lunch period was held in Adelle’s homeroom and he even sat at that exact seat last year. The boy noticed that his table was messy and started packing up his table. He packed up Adelle’s things so neatly and quietly sat next to her until 10 minutes before the next class started.

The mysterious boy then nudged Adelle to wake up. Adelle grumbled and said “30 more minutes Shanice.” before trying to fall back asleep.

The boy: I’m not Shanice. Class is starting in 10 minutes. Will you wake up?

Adelle shot up from her sleep position and was shocked to find no one in the class except for her and the boy. She shrieked a little before asking why he was sitting next to her. “I came early and you were sitting at my seat. So I thought I’d wait here until it’s time to wake up” he replied.
Adelle noted that her table was so neatly packed and her school bag was on his seat. She blushed a little and thanked him profusely before apologising and running away. The boy just watched as she ran away.

Adelle’s POV: That boy is so kind. He wasn’t rude to me like all the other guys were. He’s different. Why would he help me out.. it’s so nice of him. I really want him to be my classmate now. The way he speaks, it’s so gentle. Adelle, what are you thinking now? Didn’t you just say you’ll never date again? I wanna date him now. Will he love me back? Why are you thinking so much about a boy who just helped you? It isn’t that deep. But oh it’s so deep. Nobody ever does this for me…

Her thoughts gushed into her mind like a tsunami. Her thoughts started getting messy as she started being delusional and realistic at the same time. Adelle snapped out of deep thought when Shanice walked up to her and was about to start walking with Adelle to their next class.

Nick noticed Adelle pointing at him for the first time. Adelle then quickly turned away and told Shanice to run. So they both sprinted to the next class.
