A few days later, I realized that today was the last full day we would spend at the beach. I was so disappointed. I could spend the rest of my life here and never get bored. Haylynn spent the day in the hotel room. I had no clue what she was doing. Probably journaling or something, nothing interesting. I sat in my throne all day, talking to my flamingos.
Haylynn didn’t come to lunch. I began to get worried. After I finished eating my sandwich, Haylynn came sprinting into the hotel restaurant. “SCOTTLYNN!!!!!” Haylynn screamed.
“What?” I asked.
“Look, I made this for you.” Haylynn said. She showed me her hand. In her palm was a black thread with ten feathers on it. “It’s a necklace. I used the feathers from flamingos that was on your swimsuit when you came back to the hotel. I have no clue which flamingo each feather belongs to, but I know this one,” Haylynn pointed to a coral and white feather at the center of the necklace.
“Gabbi!! I want to see her before we leave,” I exclaimed.
Haylynn walked with me to the flamingos. I was so sad. I didn’t want to leave. I found Gabbi playing with some of the chicks in the chick pond. “Gabbi,” I whispered. She hopped over to me. She knew her name! I picked up Gabbi and carried her over to my throne. I plopped her down on a taller rock to my throne. “Gabbi has become the Aruba Flamingo Kingdom princess!!” I shouted cheerfully. Haylynn clapped and cheered. Van appeared out of no where and clapped along with Haylynn. And I was happy, knowing my flamingos were happy and safe.
