I sit with my back against the wall of the window sill, the hardcover book “Because of winn dixie” resting in my lap.
I glance out the window again hoping Alex will turn her head and look back at me through her window.
But she is still standing facing her mirror brushing her long blonde hair. I shake my head and sigh as I rise from the window sill and walk over to my own mirror.
There stands a girl 5’2 with October brown eyes and a Greek nose dashed with tiny brown spots on top of her honey skin tone. I look up at the wobbly bun on top of my head and grab my hairbrush from my desk to brush out my own giant brown knots.
