Poems <3 - Internal War

Depression is like war

Or a horrifying dream that can't get out of

A bully constantly telling you that you aren't good enough

Your palms will get sweaty

You'll sometimes even feel like you've been stabbed with a machete

"You're not good enough, maybe you should just die"

You feel alone, shedding silent tears

Here comes the anxiety

Where you feel like you can't breathe

Stuck in a place where you can't get out

Your throat starts to close up as if there's been a drought

You want to scream but the words can't seem to come out

You wanna die, but you're too scared so you try self harm

But now you're insecure

They say " You don't love your self"

But you just don't know how

You don't know how to love

You never knew how

Maybe you need a little push or shove

But there's no one to save you from yourself

All alone in the darkness

With no way out

It seems you took a wrong turn

The wrong route

That's the cycle of depression

Until another seedling sprouts.
