Writing Poetry [WRITING FICTION - PART 2] - The Green-eyed Queen

I feel the greed seeping through the tiles

And into my bones

Oh those ivory white bones

Dyed green with a vaccine

Called jealousy

I think I accidently shot my sanity

I can feel it slipping,

Into the cold hands of death

Will it ever take a breath,

I wonder

I ponder,

Will I ever resurface

From this avarice?

A glamourous cupidity,

nails painted the color of desire

Oh I feel like such a liar

Backbite, betray, back-stab, and double-cross

Hands covered in blood

At least I have what I want

And yet it will haunt me

as I walk this path alone

Friends dropping like undeserved dividends

Now all that's left is odds and ends

An aching, dragging, extra limb

An ever present shiver

But I don't know if I care

As long as I'm far from bare

So I'll eat the paint

And I'll eat my words

So maybe one day I'll see the bluebirds

With their sweet little song

And my sweet little things

I'll stare at the mirror

All rolled in gold,

And hope some day,

As I see myself

I won't see two emerald eyes staring back at me
