I'm drowning in a clear ocean of dark ink

and I don't think I'll surface

for at least for a year or so

to give them time to forget me.

I cry and you label it sadness

as if that simple word could encompass

my heart's lost shards,

as if brushing it off makes it all okay again.

not even when you promise that you do

because how could you understand

and still leave me in my darkness?

My clothes are stained

with the blood-ink of tales you neglect to tell

but it doesn't matter anymore

because I know time will drown out all my worries.

I promise to you, the fireflies

will light my way.
