As normal as

It could be

I sat

Alone

I ate

Alone

I did my work

Alone

I saw Angel in the hallways

Hyperaware of his presence

I could pick him out

In a crowd of millions

I could pick him out

If he was a goldfish

In the middle of a lake

But I force myself

To lose him

I try to force myself

To forget about him

I wonder

If he knew that his one act of kindness

Changed someone's world

I wonder if he knew

That the girl he said

Welcome to

Would remember it forever

And thank him for chipping the wall

That I built

He probably didn’t

He probably didn’t even care

Even though,

Even though my eyes still drift to him

And my lips still part

Like they want to call out to him

To call him

And say thank you

He would possibly think me

Stange

Odd

Weird

Pathetic

Like a sad puppy

Following around the first boy

That spoke to her

I’m sorry that I’m

Complaining so much to you

God

If You’re out there

If You’re listening

I just want to know

Why?

For everything that You do

Why?

I

Trip

And stumble

And knock hard into someone

There was a hand

On my shoulder

Had someone

Pushed me?

I turn to look

But a voice stops me

“Hey”

He says

“Hey, you okay?”

I look up

And feel my cheeks get hot

Not from his radiant smile

That shines like that sun

“Yeah,

I’m good”

It’s the first time I actually meant it

Ever since…

Ever since…

Ever since…

I must have looked like

I wanted to say more

Because he’s looking at me

And not

Moving

So I open my mouth

And says

“I’m good now."
