　　《迷霧中的孩子》講述越南赫蒙族的搶婚習俗，一般拍這類題材，通常會讓觀眾陷入“拍攝者不救”的情緒、或是會是以西方社會之眼光去批判“落後民族”的“陳腐惡習“。但導演何黎艷，卻拒絕如此，不以任何意識型態作為作者的評判標準，亦不將鏡頭下的人物皆淪為獵奇玩物。

　　其重點就在給予客體的尊重，片中一大轉折處，族人們過新年，琪與新交到的“男友“旺走在一起，旺說自己為人正派，不會搞拐人這種事情。越走越遠，然後霧氣瀰漫、山雨欲來，導演都知道會將發生什麼事，也只能選擇尊重相信這當下的”正派“，或是公權力（學校老師）介入，導演也不會為他們說話，一切僅以鏡頭來表達，拒絕任何形式的簡化問題，才是直面問題的最佳態度。
