Volk: What did you do?!
Argos stretched his arm and vanished beneath the ground. Volk hurled his shield to intercept him, but Argos surfaced behind him in an instant, striking out with a kick. Volk barely flinched. He swung his sledgehammer, but Argos evaded, slipping away like a phantom.
Volk: Stop this!
Argos phased through Sobaka, reappearing on the other side. Kitsune ignited a wall of fire between them, but Argos merely pointed a finger at her. Icicles rained from above. She torched them mid-air while Volk and Argos clashed, sparks flying from their Telums.
Volk: You were my brother! We cared for you!
Argos: Aw, that's sweet.
He disappeared underground again, surfacing a distance away. The group turned to face him.
Kitsune: Ly! What about always being there for your friends?! Was that a lie?!
Argos: Did he say that? How touching.
His Crescent Moon spun through the air toward Sobaka. Volk hurled his shield, intercepting it. The clash of weapons sent out a shockwave, knocking Kitsune and Sobaka off their feet. Argos smirked and redirected his Telum, guiding it toward Sobaka with precision. Kitsune, still pinned by ice, could only watch as Volk reacted—he flung his sledgehammer to intercept.
But Argos anticipated it. He stopped Crescent Moon just before impact, letting Volk's sledgehammer sail past—straight into Sobaka's chest. He crumpled, gasping for breath.
Argos: Ha! You're honestly that stupid?
Volk recoiled, calling his weapons back. Argos teleported behind him, axe raised. Volk spun, shielding himself just in time, then countered with a brutal swing. Argos twisted his weapon, absorbing the blow, using the force to pivot and strike again. Volk blocked, lightning crackling from above, slamming into Argos. He stumbled back, locking eyes with Sobaka.
Argos: Is that all you got?
A snap of his fingers—everything froze. The world stood still. Argos hurled his axe toward Sobaka and sprinted. Sobaka propelled himself upward, levitating. Bolts of lightning rained down on Argos. Each strike slowed him, but he pressed on. The second his axe returned to his grip, he shot up, snatching Sobaka's leg, and slammed him into the ground.
Sobaka barely had time to react before Crescent Moon came hurtling down. He rolled away just as it embedded into the earth, leaving a crater where he had lain.
Sobaka: What the hell is your problem?! Where did you even get all these new powers?!
Argos: You think a goddess doesn't have followers?
He tossed his axe skyward, then leapt, gripping it in both hands as he climbed higher. Sobaka fired another bolt of lightning. Argos didn't flinch. At his peak, he wrenched Crescent Moon downward with terrifying force. The axe rocketed toward Sobaka before he could even blink.
It struck home.
His body flickered, fading. The levitation and lightning orbs tumbled from his grasp. Argos caught them, feeling the power surge through his veins.
Argos: Huh. Guess I can't see a non-Telum user's soul...
Another snap—time resumed. Volk's eyes darted to where Sobaka had stood. Gone.
Volk: How could you?! Alepou and Skylos died because they couldn't be without you!
Argos: Your words will never reach them. Give up.
Argos retreated. His eyes flickered—white, then normal.
Argos: Fuck! Not now.
Volk: Ly?!
The white returned, and with it, a cruel smirk.
Argos: Pfft, you really fell for that? Snap out of it, V. You won't get what you want. Not in this time, not in any time.
Volk's rage boiled over. He launched both sledgehammer and shield. Argos deflected them with a single swing. He charged, axe poised, but Volk summoned his weapons back. Argos dipped underground just in time to evade them, reappearing in front of Volk for another violent clash.
Volk: Fidi should've let you die back there.
Argos: Too bad for you that he didn't.
A clone materialized beside him, attacking simultaneously. Volk barely blocked with his sledgehammer. Argos teleported back, then raised a single finger.
Lightning erupted, slamming down on Volk, trapping him in an unrelenting barrage.
Argos: You may be immune, but you can't move without releasing all that energy, right?
Volk glared at him, electricity crackling across his armor. The sheer joy in Argos' expression was monstrous—unnatural.
Argos: You know, you're basically sacrificing yourself for the greater good. After I finish you off, I'll be better than any god.
Volk: You're nothing but a monster!
Argos: It shouldn't matter to you, silly. You'll be dead soon enough.
With a wicked grin, he scooped Volk's fallen shield from the ground—and snapped it in half.
Volk's form flickered. He began to fade. A glowing orb dropped from his grasp, a yellow light hovering where he had stood.
Argos seized it, feeling power rush through him. His body thrummed with energy. Then, his gaze fell upon Kitsune, still frozen in place.
With a flick of his fingers, the ice shattered. She gasped, stumbling forward—only for Argos to seize her by the hair, shifting them both back to the castle. He tossed her into a darkened room, the heavy door slamming shut.
Argos: Let's play this little game once again, Kit.
Kitsune: I hope you rot in the deepest pits of Helheim, you liar!
Argos only laughed, locking the door behind him...
