It was the start of the new semester and I was walking with my bestfriend to the college in the morning.
Ava was having a hard time, she recently broke up with her boyfriend and it was hard for her to overcome the incident. He cheated on her with another girl though she was the one to call it off but there are some things we can never get over and it will take decades for the person to overcome one trauma.
However, she was all fired up to find a new guy and enjoy her college life as every other student does. Whereas there are people like me, I mean it's not something to be shamed of that you've been single for a long time but I've always had other matters important than dating. I was never that rich sassy kid who can just brag about her father's Lamborghini or a huge mansion. I was just a normal girl trying to fit in the society.
It was the end of our morning lectures and we were just hanging out in the corridor. Ava's eyes were set on a mission to find a new hot guy since the morning but she was pouting like a sad cat and was devastated that she haven't found any yet.
"Oh my god!! I forgot I had to return the book to the librarian. Damn it!! It's already past the returning date. I am screwed for sure." She said. Well it was not unusual that she had forgotten something important, my poor Ava have always been like this. Well who can know her better than me, I've babysitted her since primary school. Im like her second mother.
"Don't tell me! Is it that book that you issued last semester, before the externals? You're such an idiot. Sometimes I think you have Alzheimer's. How long has it been since you've seen your therapist?" I said to her teasing her as always.
"Ugh you're lucky. I am in a hurry now." She said.
"Save it for another time then. I'll come with you." I said to her and we walked to the library together. Our librarian was such a pain in the ass. He was a middle-aged man and bald. Yeah I know, his pain was real. Middle-aged and bald....hmmm.....i wonder if he's married or not?
He looked at Ava in a distinguished way. He glaring at her and her eyes widened when he realised and said," ohh Ava...how are you kid?"
"I'm fine as always." She said.
"Yeah! You're fine like a wine." He said and smirked and then looked at me but as he looked at me he rolled his eyes within a blink of an eye as if I've disgusted him. Well it's not like I look bad or as if I'm ugly. He just have a type in girls and Ava was her type. Average height, blonde hair and skinny body. I know my bestfriend have always been the popular girl but still it hurts when someone look at you bestie with that look.
She just returned the book and that baldie didn't even spit a word from his mouth but gave a cheeky scary smile as didn't charged any penalty for her. Ughh... I know but I was being jealous of my bestie, only if I've had the looks like her.
I was searching in the library as we had enough time to waste and suddenly Ava tripped on her toes and fell on the ground.
"Ava!!!" I shouted caughting everyone's attention.
She was lying on the floor and stood up as soon as I called her name. Of course it was embarassing enough to get famous in the campus. "Shhh! Julie! Why do you have to shout like that." She whispered to me sitting on the floor with her calves under her thighs.
"I was just worried. You startled me." I said.
"Still. You over-reacted." She said.
As when I was about to move my hand forward to Ava, a blonde boy appeared giving his hand to Ava. And as the moment she raised her eyes to his face she was froze and blinked several times to distinguish whether it was a dream or reality.
Of course if I would be at her place I too have done the same thing. That boy was magical like a prince who came straight out of the fairytale. He was also blonde like Ava. His eyes were ocean blue and he was tall enough to be called a runway model. He was skinny and had a slender body like Ava. Albeit he was skinny but you can say from the way his personality was built, he indeed was hiding muscles and his abs underneath his black sweatshirt.
"Ava! are you okay?" He called her name and Ava flinched and her ears went red. She held his hand and stood up. His voice was deep yet cute and he smiled when she said,"oh I'm fine." She smiled back.
It was at the moment when I realised that from this moment on, I would be acting as a third wheel and Ava's emotional supporter because my girl had fallen head over heals for him.
"How did you know my name?" She asked.
"Your friend called your name and I was just standing near the shelves when you fall and I saw it." He told in his cute voice.
Ava was blushing like she can pass out at any money and I would be carrying her on a stretcher in the streets of America shouting so that people will fuck off from my way.
"And what's your name is?" She asked.
"Oh. I'm Kevin." He said and gave a cute look and moved his eyes towards me.
He raised his eyebrows as if he was about to say something but before he could be spitting any cheesy words from his lips in his cute voice I cut him off saying," I'm Julie."
He smiled and said,"Julie...? I see." He clenched his jaw and I heard a few words which came out from his lips. I wasn't sure whether u heard his voice or I read his lips. He whispered underneath his breath," such a familiar name."
It was at the moment by doubts started growing every passing day.
Ava have always been so fast when it comes to these things. She was quite an opposite person from md when it comes to dating. Since they know each other's name, it became easier for them to grow their relationship. I don't know from where did she get her number but that brat was fast enough that he didn't hesitated when she texted her for the first time. He just went with the flow smoothly.
My doubts started growing when after an interval of months, he started calling her at random times and used to call her to meet with him in unfamilar spaces.
I know it's normal to have sex at this age. They both were adults and had all the freedom. But it was so suspicious of him to call her at random times and most of the time they used to hang out in night time. Hanging out at night time sound romantic but a stranger calling you at his house several times in a month doesn't quite feel romantic. Given the intentions Ava finally opened up about him to me and she announced a shocking news.
She was pregnant. It wasn't really a shocking news until you realised that your friend isn't happy. She looked kind of sad when she told me. No matter how cute Kevin looked but he always wanted sex from her.
I asked her to leave him if he's dominating her in such a way." No way! I just can't leave him. Who knows how long would I'll be able to get another one if he left me. I don't wanna die like this! If he'll leave me then what I'll do? I don't know if I will find another man like him. And also..,..he's rich as fuck. He owns a restaurant, pretty popular one and he can double his income from a job and running a restuarant after his father. I am thinking about securing my future and apart from all that, he's good looking. I want my children to be good looking too."
I knew this wasn't her. She may have been a popular girl all her life but she never even had had this type of thought in her mind. No matter how nice her life was, she had always been humble. He must had hypnotised her or just changed her mindset. He was dominating her in an abusing way.
During her 6th month of pregnancy, she came to visit me in my house. But she looked so pale. Her eyes had dark circles and her under eye bags were all puffed. Her face left all her beauty and she looked like she was out of energy. It seemed like someone has drained all her energy and her soul had grown old.
She started crying, and when she told her story, I found myself lucky that I've always had trust issues in men. Kevin was fucking her even in her 6th month of pregnancy. Which I know is a very criminal step that one can take. It's not love nor lust, he was using her as a sex doll.
He always used to say that he was hungry when they were together. It sounds like something else but it was too much to be called something else. We decided to report that to police and I helped her. When we were departing from the police station, I told her to give me a call and warned her that Kevin shouldn't know what happened that day.
When I get home, I waited for her call, minutes and hours passed but she didn't called me. It had been about 4 hours after I reached home but I ignored her telling myself that she must had forgotten about it.
6 hours passed and I didn't recieved a single call nor even a text. I rushed to their home as they both were living together. Kevin was least concerned about their baby, he just wanted to satisfy himself. I knocked on the door and ranged the door bell, Kevin came outside with a warm smile on his face.
"Oh Julie. Hey how have you been?" He said.
"Can I come inside?" I asked with a normal face because I don't want him to raise suspicions. He let me in and I asked him about Ava, he said she got a call from her mother and she left.
Of course I didn't believed it, but I left his home. I called her but she didn't picked up. I walked to her mother's house and gave her a zillion calls when I was heading to their home but she didn't picked it up.
I rang the door bell but no one came. I asked the guard about them but he told me that they left the house yesterday saying they were going to a relative but he recieved their last call this morning and they're not picking up now.
"Did they told you exactly to which relative they're visiting today?" Of course I knew almost all their relative, me and Ava were like sisters, we even knew each other's uncle and aunt.
But they didn't exactly told him where they were going. My suspicion was only on Kevin.the next day, I waited outside his restaurant, hiding myself behind the walls but I didn't found a single clue. I waited for more than 12 hours at it was about the time of dinner. Still I found no clue.
It was about the time of closing hours and a girl visited him and he ket her in and closed the shutter. I waited for few hours but I didn't recieved any clue. I walked closer and I pressed my ear on the wall to hear what's going on inside those suspicious walls. Ava said that it was his father's restaurant then how come I didn't saw his father, it was only him.
I suddenly heard a thudding sound coming from the inside as if someone was fighting. I searched everywhere and I found a window which was on the second floor of his restaurant. I somehow managed to climb up there through the pipes and invaded his restuarant. His restaurant was looking alright, no unusual thing was there. I serached his room on the second floor and opened his wardrobe. Inside the wardrobe was a door which lead to a basement. The basement looked greasy and it was dark as hell. I went downstairs and as my feets were pressing on the stairs, they were making a scary sound. I went inside and it was dark as fuck.
I turned on the flashlight of my phone. My eyes were about bulged out from my eyelids after what I saw.
Three human bodies were lying on the table which were cutted in middle sized peices and we're arranged in a serial order. I saw three heards, Ava and her parents. Their head were kept inside a glass case and were marked cleanly as their names like they do in science labs. There were other heads too and there was a girl's head named Julie. I now knew why he said that. The skeleton was hunged in chains and it looked like they were glancing at me and trying to say something like," save us please."
My heart was throbbing and hy heart was about to burst out from fear. I ran upstairs and tried to escape from there. When i went to the second floor, I heard a munching sound coming from downstairs, as if someone was eating something.
Curiosity kills the cat. I tip-toed downstairs silently and my legs started shaking in fear as i saw him. The girl's head was cutted apart from her body and her stomach was cutted wide open that her organs were peeking from her stomach. I was about to throw up when I saw her intestines were flooded up to Kevin's mouth and the sound of his munching was scaring my ass off.
He was munching and munching and munching, i tried to run away but my phone fell from my hands and he turned his face at me. His eyes looked like a hungry dog which was craving for food since decades and the blood was decorated on his clothes and the peices of flesh were hanging from his lips.
He smiled and his teeth looked gross as they were covered in that crimson color of flesh.
He stood up and ran towards me, I ran upstairs but I scared to death that I couldn't think straight. He grabbed my hair and pushed me on the floor and pulled my body by grabbing my hairs. He pulled me from the stairs that the steps of stairs were hitting on the same spot of my back that it left blue-red marks on my body.
He pushed me near the girl's body and grabbed a knife from his counter table. I was not sure whether I will be able to see the next sunrise so I just hung in there. I rushed to him grabbing his waist and hit on leg on his calf that his balance was disturbed.
I slapped him and pushed him that he fell on the ground making a thudding noise. The knife slid under the table. I rushed to the kitchen but he grabbed my legs and twisted them as much as he can. He pulled me towards him and placed his teeth on my skin on my feets. He bit my left left feet as he dug his teeth deep into my skin.
I was screaming in pain and wavering my hands to find something, I grabbed a chair and hit on his head that he bled as hell. He was still alive and my eyes were filled with tears. I took the flower vase and hit him on his head. He was left unconscious on the floor and to make sure he dies, I pulled another knife from the kitchen and stabbed in his heart.
It wasn't enough for me because he took my bestfriend from me. I pulled his heart out from his chest and threw it away.
I screamed all I can.... I ran away from there as far as I can. I won't be able to dug my friend's grave and left her because it was all that I can do at that time.
Since that day, Ava existed in my memories only.
