*TW: Violence, Gore, and Language*
There was a dangerous man living inside this place. He was a murderer who lurked around killing anyone who went inside.
A friend of mine went inside this very facility. They remember the dark corridors with the sound of dripping water, an unfamiliar figure, and the same man chasing them with an axe.
I decided to explore it with them, and I came prepared. I had a loaded gun, and a knife just in case I ran out of bullets.
My friend stayed silent, cowering behind me as we walked. We knew the man was here, he stared at us from a window as we walking in.
We headed upstairs, the stairs creaked under our feet. We saw the man down the hall. He held the axe tightly, goosebumps littered his arms as he gave me a terrified stare.
"What are you doing with that monster?"
He must've been talking about my friend. How long has he been here? How did he not realize he was the lunatic with an axe.
"Step over here, I'm not going to hurt you."
I listened, keeping my hand close to my weapon. I stayed a few feet away from him. "What is it?"
"Just look at them. Do they look normal to you?"
No, not in the slightest. I must've never noticed it up close. Their face looked off and I couldn't really explain why.
It might've been that their eyes were too close together, or that their mouth never changed from that uncomfortable smile.
"I want to explain something to you. I came to this place to find something I left here years ago. I used to go to school here."
"I came back only to see my old teacher with that same face, that same unnatural smile. When your friend came here, they just froze in place, like their entire body just shut down."
"Why are they making that expression?"
"It's mocking me."
He handed me a picture from his wallet. It was a school photo. His face had the same smile, that same expression.
"I have killed people, but only because that face won't go away."
I explained to the man how my friend saw a shadowy figure. There was someone else in the building. His eyes watered as his skin became deathly pale.
"Look closer." He told me. I held the image closer to my face, and there I saw it. It was the ominous figure my friend saw. It was standing behind him smiling that familiar smile.
"Hey, not you too! Leave me the fuck alone! Save me, somebody please!"
I traced my finger over my lips. I could feel the smile on my face. My mouth wouldn't utter a single word. I was stuck like this.
He ran over to my friend, swinging the axe into the side of their head. "Forgive me! Forgive me!" he shouted.
I understood his pain, as he turned his tear-filled face towards me. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" Those were the last words I ever heard.
