Armenia. You've ever heard of it? Probably not. Don't worry, most people don't. Maybe I should stop with the open ended questions (I'm not). Anyhow, Armenia is that tiny tiny country on the border of Iran, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.
What a fun cast of characters amiright?

Okay, so what IS Armenia. Asian, Middle Eastern, European? See thats a tough question. Honestly we're all of the above. Ask the people in Armenia. It depends on the person. We have Middle Eastern food with historically European traditions with a bit of a fusion of Asian traditions.
What we know right now: Armenia is small and weird.
Moving on. History. (OOF.)
Did you know that Armenia is the very first country that accepted Christianity as its main religion? Thus there is an abundance of old, historical churches on the land! It's a cool place to visit to see the churches.
-The churches that are still there, of course. US researchers concluded that 98% of cultural sites in Armenia have been destroyed by Azerbaijan.

That is a long story.
All Armenians do is herd goats and eat cheese and baklava, of course. Armenia, a cute, small country with a little population. RIGHT SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE IN THE MOST HOSTILE COUNTRIES.
Remember when I said that they're a fun cast of characters? Now you understand. Iran? Muslim. Azerbaijan? Muslim. Turkey? Guess what? They're Muslim too! And in the middle of it all is the oldest Catholic Christian county. If you've taken any world history class you can tell where this is going!
War! Because you're different and different is bad!
I wont go way back, don't worry. I'll start in 1915. The Armenian Genocide.
Wait wait wait wait.
"The Armenian what? The Armenian Genocide?"
Yes. The Armenians had a genocide. All the Armenians in the Ottoman Empire in 1915 were rounded up and killed. And if you escaped that, which 1.5 million Armenians didn't, you either had to hide under a fake name (my family changed our last name to fit in), or escape the death marches. My other side of the family, well my great x3 grandma had her husband killed in her own home. She escaped with 9 kids and a handful of jewelry to Egypt.
Did you know that Hitler knew of the Armenian Genocide? In 1939 in one of his speeches he asked who remembers the annihilation of the Armenians.
If you ask a Turk if the Armenian Genocide ever happened, expect them to say it didn't. Because in their eyes, the 1.5 million dead Armenians just never existed in the first place.

Let's talk about food.
Let's say you travel to Armenia. What are you planning to eat there? I hope you're not vegetarian! Expect a lot of meat, cheese, and bread.
There's a lot of kebabs, too. And Armenian pizza, which is basically flat bread with meat on top. It's really good. Mmm. Oh, and there's also manti, which is just more meat in bread. So kinda like Armenian dumplings.
I'm hungry now.
Oh! And baklava. I won't go into the age-old debate on who invented the baklava first. Greeks or the Turks. I, personally like the greek version. But there is baklava in Armenia, and we don't do that bad on it!
