Love is an afterthought. Since we are pack animals we evolved in such a way that we feel immense affection towards the people we want to or the people we have had sex with. So that we stick together so that we were less likely to be picked off by predators. Today that feeling of affection lives on and we call it love. Love is not forever because people get old/overweight, they get grey hairs, wrinkles and such and eventually we lose our attraction to them. So that's why there's so many affairs around the 35-45 range. You know that they are the one when you see them and feel attraction towards them. Then when you speak to them you feel your personalities and interests are compatible.
