I am aro-ace(I think, its a little complicated) so I guess I have a unique experience on this. I don't believe in 'true love'. True love is in my opinion, like an addiction. If you are addicted to sugar(or something worse) then you will never feel unhappy eating sugary foods. Unlike with a person, where they could upset you or annoy you. Even if most of the time, a person makes you happy, a cookie(when addicted) will make you happy ALL the time, or atleast, it will never annoy you or make you angry(like if you are full and you eat a cookie and that makes you feel gross thats your fault and not the cookies'). Since humans are more complicated than cookies and candy, I don't think one will ever feel good enough to always make you feel positive(although true love does make ppl feel addicted to each other), especially a romantic one. Anyway, thats my take on true love. I see it as an addiction to another human being which is encouraged by society, which can potentially become VERY toxic. But I think that platonic love is just as real and feels just as good.
