話說近日美國在蒙大拿上空，發現中國的間諜氣球。

其實在1950年代，美國也在歐洲用過間諜氣球，利用大氣層由西向東的噴射氣流，對蘇聯、東歐進行地面偵照。

該項計畫一開始以梅爾維爾『白鯨記』的大白鯨之名，命名為『莫比．迪克(Moby Dick)』。

後來延續的計畫則改稱為『基因組合計畫(Project Genetrix)』。

不過扣掉被蘇聯本土防空軍擊落的，

氣球在高空爆炸墜毀的，

不曉得飛到哪裡去的，

照片不夠清晰的。

回收後堪用的照片，只涵蓋蘇聯地表的百分之三。

而且大部份不是軍用設施。

因為用氣球進行偵察的效率實在太差，

美國才開始以『氣象觀測機』的名義，秘密研發高空戰略偵察機。

也就是後來的U-2偵察機。
