Romeo’s first love was Rosaline, but Shakespear not given enough attention to Rosaline in his popular play because he used her as a basis of love of Romeo. Audiences just compared Romeo’s love to Rosaline and to Juliet and they’re think that compared to Rosaline, Romeo’s love for Juliet was very strong, so when the audiences saw how’s Romeo greatest love for Juliet is… they throw the Idea of Rosaline in the play. And Rosaline is the reason why Romeo and Juliet met.
