The woman removed her pack and tossed it over to one of the others. Then, wiping her boots on the root she had used to pull herself up, she attempted to jump the rift again. She landed higher on the opposite bank this time.
Taking back her pack, the group continued their ascent. They ascended a flight of carved, small rock and mud steps. The steps had been divided down the middle by a rapidly flowing rivulet.
