The turning never stopped. Round and round it went. Sometimes slow, sometimes fast. Sometimes at a crawl, sometimes at breakneck speed. The slower it spun, the louder it creaked and groaned. The faster it spun, the more piercing its screech, the more it wobbled and leaned. "It always does that," they said. " It's safe," they reassured. We warned them. "You should check it." "It should not work that way." They laughed at us. We were new, we didn't know how things worked around here. Maybe not. But we weren't the ones crying when it came crashing down.
