poems - My heart beats + Absence

re-read that other one i posted called 'dead' and just though ' i can do so much better than that'

spoiler alert - this one isn't any better

My heart beats -

it bangs against my chest,

struggles to be free.

My brain spits out nonsense,

line after line,

my mouth follows, obedient.

Everyone else seems to know what I'm saying

more than I do.

Their words flow easily -

my tears fall easier

as I wonder,

'How does it feel

to be dead?'

What is the absence of life

if not the feeling that I'm absent

from my body, that I feel everyday?

My heart beats,

banging against my chest;

can I be dead

if my heart is still beating?

if my body's still moving?

if my tears still flow?

My heart beats,

and every beat echoes

through the empty shell

of my body.

also i'm not sure if it is any better than the first one xD, just different

i wanted to play around with repeating the word 'absence' so i tried this...

What is death if not simple absence,

absence of thoughts,

absence of feelings,

absence of life,

a great hole where your heart should be?

a black hole where the light in your eyes once was...

What is life if not simple absence,

absence of death,

absence of peace,

absence of absence?

Don't wave your hand in front of me when I'm absent,

don't wake me up.

Don't return me from a world of absence

to a world where absence is all we know.

it doesn't sound like a word anymore...
