Train hurtles down the tracks,

silhouette far ahead

but stopping ain't an option.

Blood on hands and blade,

sobbing with regret

but stopping ain't an option.

Pressure building,

hand aching - ink-stained,

but stopping ain't an option.

The world keeps turning,

the sun never stays

in the same place for too long.

The train hits with a BANG! and a SPLATTER.

The blade hits the floor with a CRASH!

but as the corpse, an insignificant character, lies motionless

all there is, is silence,

punctuated by the scratching of my pen on the paper.

I could ease their suffering, let them be,

but stopping ain't an option;

I'm only halfway through my book.
