this is more of a spoken poem tbh so i'm not sure if it works written down also it's not that good

Can you be dead

if your heart is still beating?

If you still have a pulse?

Death is defined as the absence of life

alone in a crowd of people i know

but do i know them really?

Do they talk about me

in my absence?

They chatter through me.

Their words go in one ear

and out the other.

Am i really alive?

What is death, really?

Can you be dead

if your heart still beats?

I hold my hand on my chest sometimes

with every beat i am astonished

I am shocked

I am scared.

I think,

'Why,

why have i not yet collapsed,

dead?

Why does my heart

still beat?'
