(Vera N.)
“Where are we?” I asked. It was dark inside, but luckily, Anita’s flower produced light for us to see. The light wasn’t as bright, but it was enough for us to notice the silhouettes of trees.
“I don’t know,” She replied, peering in the darkness. “But if we find anything, my flower will knock it out.”
My eyebrows creased in concern. “Careful, you don’t want them eating it.”
“It's hard to control it sometimes, you know,” Anita said with a sigh. “Because if I get scared, my flower will go crazy.”
“Oh, you said it was connected to your blood or something right?”
She nodded. “Yeah.”
“If more than one thing jumps at us at the same time, you won’t be able to knock them out.” I pointed out.
“That’s what I’m afraid of.” Anita replied.
I sighed. “So far, we found nothing.”
Anita squinted. “I see light.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, your flower?”
She shook her head. “No, I mean sunlight.”
“Sunlight?” I asked, hope rising in me. “We’re getting out?”
“Yeah, follow me!”
I followed her out of the forest. We stopped, panting.
“Check it out.” I heard Anita say. I followed her gaze. It was a small beach. An aqua shaded lake with light brown sand. And there it was. A red lasered wall curved around the area. A boundary of the border.
