In an electronic world that's always connected through screens, it can get a little difficult to retain one's sense of self. The need to belong is endemic to the human condition, and the desire to be with or be like those we see living incredible lives can be overwhelming at times. As an individual prone to daydreaming, I found myself caught up in the glamor of the internet years ago, and believed myself a part of something that turned out to be hollow.

Sometimes internet communities are real. Sometimes they're only illusions we've created in our minds as a means of escaping our very tangible issues.

"Go out and touch grass," indeed.
