34 year old Randal Smith walks along the hunting trail next to his friend of 28 years. 33 year old Davy Cane. Randal is an average height and build. He wears a red checkered shirt over his white tank top. He wears denim jeans and leather hiking boots. Randal has well combed medium length hair and a moustache. Davy is of a more slimmer build. And is a few inches taller than Randal. He wears no shirt and baggy jeans. He also has leather hiking boots. And he wears a chain with a crucifix on it around his neck. Davy has a slight 5 O clock shadow and a buzz cut. Randal has a .44 magnum in a holster on his side. And Davy holds a .22 rifle in his hands. They walk home after a hunting trip.
"Man we didn't catch shit but 2 squirrels and bug bites" Davy slaps a mosquito on his neck. "I don't even like squirrel"
"Just dice it up, put it in a stew with potatoes and carrots, and it'll taste fine. And one of those is mine give it here"
Davy takes a squirrel out of his pocket and hands it to Randal. Who casually stuffs the dead squirrel in his own pocket like its a business card or some shit.
Davy slaps his chest "Fuckin bugs!"
"I told you to wear a shirt"
"Its hot Randy"
"Man quit bitchin"
"Man fuck you"
"Man fuck you" Randal repeats what Davy says in a taunting voice. "See that's how you sound that's how people hear you. Stop talking"
"Man at least I don't have a gay ass moustache"
"You wish you could grow a moustache like this"
"Freddy Mercury lookin ass"
"Wait hold on" Randal extends his hand towards Davy while looking down.
"Shit"
"What?"
"Shit Davy there's shit on the ground"
In front of them lies a very large pile of dung.
"Looks like bear to me" Davy remarks
"Could you imagine? I mean we'd have food for days. I'd have a full freezer"
"Man we cant kill a bear with these"
"We might"
"I don't like it Randy. It just seems risky... Hold on. I gotta take a piss"
Davy walks away from the trail and towards a tree. Randal turns away from Davy to give him privacy and walks to the other treeline. He notices something strange carved into the trees. He looks closer. Bear claw marks line the trees. And big ones at that. They reach heights of up to 7 and a half feet. And go deep into the wood.
"I don't like this" Randal says under his breath as he flips his holster open.
"RANDY! BEAR! FUCKING BEAR!"
Randal hears Davy shout. He spins around to see a gargantuan grizzly bear on top of Davy. It thrashes him around by his legs as Davy is powerless to do anything except flail his arms uncontrollably and scream in pain. Randal unholsters his magnum and aims it at the grizzly. But its moving so much that there's a chance he could hit Davy. Randal shifts side to side. Changing his aim to try and lower the odds of hitting his friend. But the bear keeps whipping Davy in the way of his shot. The bear finally drops Davy to the ground and places a paw on his chest to begin feasting. Randal takes aim at the bears head and fires. The bears head snaps to the side before it turns to face Randal. The grizzly roars at him before charging. Randal backs up as fast as he can "GO! GET AWAY! BAHH!" He screams as he tries to line up another shot on the bear. But he is unable to and the bear slams into him. Knocking him down. The bear gets on top of him and begins to dig its claw into Randal's shirt. Ripping it. Randal slams the handle of his gun into the bears giant head. This only seems to anger the bear as it claws Randal's arm to the side and roars in his face. Randal feels the bears hot stinky breath on his face. It causes his eyes to water. Drool is flung from the bears mouth. Landing on Randal's face and chest. Davy recovers from his attack and sees the bear on top of his friend. He grabs his rifle and aims it at the bears back. He fires a shot. The bear gets off of Randal and spins around to face him. Davy cycles another round into the gun and fires again. Hitting the bears shoulder as it charges him. Randal lifts his arm and takes aim at the bears rear and fires another shot of his own. This one causes the bear to give up. It runs past Davy and into the trees. Knocking some of the smaller ones down with its oversized body. Randal takes his hand and wipes the bear drool off of his face. "You ok man!?!"
Davy lays there on the ground. "Yeah I think it just bruised me up. Are you good?"
Randal looks at his arm. Its bleeding slightly. Nothing serious. Other than that he's fine health wise. "Yeah I'm fine. Alright man lets go"
Randal struggles to holster his gun due to his hands trembling.
"You saved my life" Davy says breathing heavily.
Randal turns back to face him "Likewise"
Davy tries to get up but pain shoots through his legs and he falls on to his back.
"Ahh! My leg! Ahh my fucking legs"
"What's wrong with your legs?"
Randal Runs over and crouches beside his friend.
"M...My ankles hurt"
Randal pulls Davys pant legs up to look at his ankles. He sees that they are both deeply purple with bruising. He touches one gently with his finger.
"AHHHH!!!" Davy shouts. "YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!"
"Shhh. Keep your voice down. I'm gonna get you out of here man"
Randal grabs Davys arms and throws him over his shoulder as Davy groans in pain. Randal begins walking the rest of the way while carrying an injured Davy. After 10 minutes or so of walking they finally reach the truck.
"Just put me in the back" Davy groans "I don't wanna be sitting"
Randal drops Davy in the back of the truck as he gives one last yelp of pain.
Randal drives the truck while trying to calm down. He turns on the radio to try and take his mind off things with some music.
"Sweet home Alabama" Randal quietly sings along to the song as he taps the steering wheel.
Davy bangs on the side of the truck.
"Just take me home don't take me to a hospital. I cant afford it"
"I know you cant afford it ya cheap son of a bitch"
"Fuck you"
"Fuck you!"
They pull into Davys driveway. Randal stops the car and pulls Davy out of the back. He carries him a few feet down the driveway before Davys wife runs out.
"Davy!?!" She shouts.
"No. Its Randal. Haha" Randal jokes.
"What did you do to him!"
Davy lifts his head up. "Nothin Barb don't worry. Just an accident"
"You guys got ice? Randal asks. "Davys gonna need it"
Randal walks inside of Davys house and lays him down on the couch. Barb looks at Randal with pure fury.
"Just what in the hell happened to my husband?"
"Bear" Randal answers.
"Bear? A bear attacked him!?!"
"Couldnt have said it better myself"
Randal walks past Barb and leans close to Davy.
"Alright Davy I'm gonna head home. Stay safe"
They shake hands and bid farewell.
"You're not hanging around with him anymore!" Barb says to Davy.
"Ill see you next time" Says Randal.
"Yep. Till next time. Be seein ya" Davy waves.
"NO YOU WONT!" Barb raises her voice.
