The small girl was curled up in her bed, listening to the wind howling outside her window and the people rushing around on the other side of her door. She pulled the blanker over her head as she clamped her hands over her ears. Suddenly she heard someone shouting 'Fire, fire!' as loud screams echoed through the corridors. She could smell the thick smoke that was beginning to creep under her door, poisoning the air and making it hard to breathe. The door crashed open as someone burst into her room and roughly grabbed her from her bed. The girl nestled her head into their shoulder to shield her face from the fire that was burning bright all around her. She clutched the person tighter as they raced down the stairs. Out of the corner of her eye she could make out people fleeing towards the open door as the fire licked the walls and the building crumbled around them. They ran out the house into the cold night air and the person carrying her passed her to someone else saying to get her out.
